Title: Rear wiper arm from estate? Anyone?? Post by waynem325 on Jul 12th, 2005, 4:41pm I've only just noticed that the washer jet on my rear wiper arm is missing??? I've only had the car a month or so now and never needed to use the washer for the rear. I did at the weekend and not a single drop of water hit the window! I've never paid much attention to the rear washer so don't know if it was missing when I bought the car or if its fallen of or been swiped since I got it??? I knew the wiper arm/blade was there so thought no more about it. Perhaps not the whole arm is needed, but if someone has got one going spare it would be appreciated if you could throw it this way....obviously for a price ;) Failing that-if anyone has a picture of the rear washer arm could you post it on here for me to see whats missing. TIA, Wayne :) |

Title: Re: Rear wiper arm from estate? Anyone?? Post by Simmo on Jul 14th, 2005, 7:35pm Wayne. I found a wiper arm today. If you send me a PM with your contact details I may be able to help. The washer mechanism is in the arm so it may be a simple repair rather than a replacement. Simmo |

Title: Re: Rear wiper arm from estate? Anyone?? Post by waynem325 on Jul 15th, 2005, 12:17pm Hi Simmo, Thans for the reply mate! I'm not really sure how best to describe this, so please bear with me for a bit... ;) I had a closer inspection of it yesterday and I don't think it is as serious as it first appeared? The rubber tubing that feeds the actual jet on the wiper arm itself connects to a nozzle (I assume?) which is attached to the main bolt. It appears that the the nozzle on mine has snapped off and therefore is no longer supplying the jet with water. I'm unsure of the correct terms for the parts but I could send you picture and explain that way-then you'd be able to see what I'm talking about. The cap over the bolt of the wiper arm (Where it joins to the car) is missing on mine as well so I'm unsure if that has anything to do with it? Any ideas if this can be fixed or not, or would it be down to a replacement? Not been able to see a complete, working arm isn't helping and I haven't had the time to start taking things apart.....yet! ;) Kindest regards, Wayne |

Title: Re: Rear wiper arm from estate? Anyone?? Post by Simmo on Jul 16th, 2005, 12:48am Wayne, The water supply is fed through the wiper motor spindle as you say. The arm is then secured by means of a nut. There is a rubber tube running inside the arm and this connects to the spindle by means of a right angled connector and then runs inside the arm to the 'head' containing the jet. If the arm has been removed the right angled connector and the tube will have come off and is probably still in the arm but needs to be pulled back and refitted. I tried to send you a photo but can't get it from my pictures to the site.....Dumbo....... If you can post a photo of the spindle that would certainly make it clearer. I guess if that is the problem the answer is a replacement motor..unless one of the guys knows different.Regards, Simmo |

Title: Re: Rear wiper arm from estate? Anyone?? Post by Simmo on Jul 20th, 2005, 9:26pm Baz, All Wayne needed was the little black 'cap' that connects the wiper spindle to the rubber tubing inside the arm. If you come across one in your travels it will put the spare arm I have back in full working order. Cheers, Simmo |
