Title: 24V Cosworth engine cover/wheels
Post by adowds on Apr 24th, 2006, 11:15am
Now then.

I've just bought a 95M 24V Ultima, and I'm very pleased with it. Now I want to sort all the little niggles - like the cracked and worn Cosworth 24V cover on top of the engine.

Does anyone have one?

Also, it has 15 inch alloys which are fine but it looks a bit like an elephant on roller skates. Don't want to spend too much cash or go non-original, so any factory option 16 or 17 inchers would be sweet.

Cheers!

Al

Those are sweet. But 'need refurbishing' puts me off a bit...

I'll keep an eye on them though, thanks!

I asked the seller of those wheels about the condition and this was his reply:-

"hi there there is no major kerbing scratches or dents they just need to be refinished back to tip top condition!"

The no "MAJOR" bit has put me off

Yeah, refurbing wheels is pricey and a faff. Especially chrome, I bet they're a b****r to sort out.

Yeah, sometimes I think the eBay is full of nutters. Whatever. There weren't even any tyres on those wheels.

And the pic was so dodgy they could have had all sorts of damage.

What I need is one of the top fellows on this here board to sell me some nice 17 inch factory wheels in prime order for a gentlemanly price. Oh yes!

You keep your eyes off my bloody genuine 17" Ford 7 spoke alloys!!!

Haha! Sounds like, deep down, you hate those wheels and want to sell them to me. For £50.

Those are not the wheels you're looking for...

Etc etc.

So what do you all reckon are the nicest factory Ford wheels that fit the Scorpio? There isn't an 18 option is there?

My car has the 15 inch split 4-spoke 'Sportive' wheels. I think they're original, but the centre cap has a naff 'RS' logo that looks weird. Is this right? Looks crap to me.

What should it be on the centre cap? I can't see on the alloy options page on the main site.

Is it just the blue oval?

hi there

your wheels are very rare. might be an idea to keep them as they could have been 'rs' wheels. i'll check later.

sometimes it's better not to change. :-/

They definitely say 'RS', with a stroke underneath, in a crappy sort of crayony font, blue colour. Doesn't look like the normal Ford RS logo.

Perhaps I'll take a photo later. What else are bank holiday weekends for?

Re: the alloys on ebay. These are 5 stud, both my Scorps are 4 stud, look like they're for Granada Scorpio

I'm looking at the wheels ending 2nd May at £40, yes the chromes are 4 stud but because they're finished I had not looked there. DOH !

Top info from the Scorpio man! Do you think Ford would sell me the centre caps with the Ford logo instead? The wheels are okay (if a little small) but the centre caps do annoy me...

Just had the wheels off to do the back discs, and they're deffo official Ford wheels. The centre caps have a Ford stamp and production date marked inside. I feel better about them now, but still fancy some 17s...
