Your mad mate, I don't think you realise the work your taking on. A 2.0L 4x4 box may fit but it's the least of your troubles.
If it don't I can build you a gearbox that will fit, that's the easy bit ;)

i know i am mad but i would love to give it a go have checked the front hubs and have noted that these will accept drive shafts with a bit of fiddling if i go ahead with the conversion i will give you a shout  cheers for the warning howie

its not that bad really i have done it in the past, you need a 2.0 dohc sierra 4x4 sump & gearbox prop etc etc. I have all the bits if your interested.

Well I have never heard of a 4x4 Scorpio ever been done before ???

The easier car would be the 12V 2.9, the best would be the 24V, then the 2.3 car.

The 2.3 is a bored & stroked 2.0 which is the same block as a Escort Rs2000 4x4, so most parts you could get.
Off the top of my head you would need to change the rear diff to match the front (Mk3 24V diff) if early diff?, 4x4 rear prop, 4x4 gear box from a 2.0L, 2.0L 4x4 sump, 4x4 front shafts + prop, 3.62 front diff, 2.0L 4x4 front sub frame, engine mounts, front suspension set up & a 4x4 steering rack.

Then modify the gearbox tunnel to take the 4x4 box, cut out half moons for the front shafts in the chassis rails & then fit the 4x4 front sub frame + suspension which would be a custom jobbie as none of the mountings line up except the top struts.

Must ask why a 4x4 Scorpio ???
They are too heavy to handle, a 2.3L is slow, even more so if 4x4 & you will drop at least 5 mpg going 4x4. Try & get a drive in a 4x4 Granny to see what you will end up with but you will have to rev yours a bit more.

Best to get a complete decent 2.0L 4x4 car for bits & goodluck.

Bill your having a go at one then mate ;D
Is it gonna be a 24V, would be interesting to see that.

Currently I am trying to mate a 4x4 Skyline gearbox to a 24V, so I have a few head aches of myself >:(

Well good luck mate.
I don't want to put you off but just to let you know it's not easy.

There are 4x4 Fiesta's, old Escorts & so on, so why not a 4x4 1995+ Scorpio :)
