I am breaking a 2.3 so assume that yes, i will have one. No sure exactly which part it is though. Is it NS or OS?

The Vertical Link Rod?

They clonk a lot when these are worn.

I have a NS one already removed and an OS one still on the car. One of the joints moves around easily, but its not worn to the point of an MOT fail or clocking, so should do a turn
