Actually Talibans posts if you look at them take up the same space as yours   ;)

Taliban, thanks for the mention on 6/3. TD crankshaft front seals now obsolete I am told - I have posted an item on parts wanted.
Do you need thge special tools  shown in the manual (seal remover and installer collar) to do the seal job. Also what about the aircon when the radiator is removed?

chris, if you have a look at your messages i replied on there a couple of days ago.
its a bit odd that the seals are obsolete considering the engine was used in other makes ???
steve savill has, or did have 2 diesel engines a week ago, i dont know what condition the seals are in, or if second hand ones are re usable, if they are then you would deffo need the special tool (or a fabricated one) to remove them so as not to damage the seal. his number is 07761 246096. just say phil passed you onto him.
as for putting the seal in, i would think a socket of the right size could be used to gently 'drift' it in. you will need a flywheel puller, i picked a new one up from ebay for about 8 quid including postage, and a 41mm socket for the pulley nut which is done up to 152lb with thread locking agent too.
if you're just removing the radiator (the one nearest the engine) then the air con isnt disturbed, draining the rad is simple, its just one hardened plastic type plug on the rear side bottom right as you face the car, a 1 or 2 pence piece held in pliers does it.

Thanks Taliban - I have just discovered where to find my messages!
I think I will try and find a new one using alternative makes with the same engine before I investigate s/h.

yeah, a new one would be adviseable, there must be a company that makes aftermarket seals etc that'll have them....
