Hi all, R.E my topic on loss of steering would anyone know of any company where I can get a reconned steering rack for a 2.9 12v scorp, cant afford FORDS at the mo, they want 540 pound for a new one

A good local motor shop should be able to get one for around £186....that's what I paid :)

No Stuart, I didn't miss the post, just thought I'd advise on how much they were inc VAT & delivery from a local motor shop :)

Dogma, is that one from Ford at £540 inc VAT?

I have a receipt for a 24v i bought with a new rack costing just over the £400 from FMD about 3 years ago

Are the racks any good though..i.e...are they recon or pattern ?...& if they are recon, are they totally reconditioned or just had the previous faulty parts replaced ? :-/....
....& there is also the cost of sending your old one back to them ;)

Just a thought....they're not self assembly kits are they ? ;D

Highlander, yes that was with the vat, lot on pennies tho, the 90 pound + vat looks good tho

I had two re-conditioned racks in 14 months about 3 years ago - in the end paid the Ford price (fordpartsuk.com)

Maybe I was unlucky but in the end I thought it was worth paying the extra and so far so good!
