Hi all, can anyone help with regard to a replacement Ultima 2.3 (Facelift) Radiator Grille?

My bonnet release mechanism (at the bonnet end) ceased working the other day and in the process of fixing/replacing it my mechanic informs me that the release lever is actually attached to the grille and has broken off - hence my need for a replacement! :-/

Ford have quoted a cost of £225 + VAT for a new one, so I have e-mailed fordparts.co.uk re availability & cost.
Still awaiting a reply from them but in the meantime has anyone on the forum perhaps got one they no longer need or know of anywhere else I may obtain one?

Hi Baz, ghia-x and Lee!

I must first apologise for not replying before now to your respective responses to my request of the 18th January. I have been away on a cheapo last minute break to the Costa Del Sol since the 20th January to try and ease the usual January depression!

Baz - I have had a look on EBAY but will first check out other options available. I now have the grille back in my possesion together with a new handle which disappeared when the problem occured. I can see that it is all because a thin piece of plastic with a 1/4 inch diameter hole which held the handle, had cracked and almost broken off completely allowing the handle to come off and disappear.

Bill on the list has suggested possibly being able to refabricate the offending piece of plastic in some way by glueing or bolting a plastic or metal strengthener either side of the original.

I am looking at this option and have also been informed by ghia-x and Lee that they both have a spare grille available which I am assuming is the facelift type ie Ford badge in centre of the black ribs of the grille rather than sitting on the top of it. Thanks to both of you ghia-x and Lee, perhaps you would be able to advise how much you would require if the above fix is not possible.
