Title: Explorer / Ranger Engine Post by Highlander on Sep 30th, 2008, 9:29pm Been looking for a pre 96 4.0 OHV engine as used in the Explorer and Ranger for over a year now with no success, well none under £1000 anyway!! :) Nothing pre 96 seems to come on ebay or autotrader or adtrader etc... they look like they dont exist! Actually only after the block and pistons, anyone know of any? there must be some out there somewhere |

Title: Re: Explorer / Ranger Engine Post by Highlander on Oct 1st, 2008, 4:52pm Only because fuel is so cheap ;) tried a few of those sites before Mike, but i'm just not too keen on paying the money they want for a 15 year old engine, some of them are after £800 plus! |

Title: Re: Explorer / Ranger Engine Post by pinto on Oct 2nd, 2008, 11:31pm 4.0 V6 engines are few and far between in this country as the Explorer wasnt a big seller and i never even knew the Ranger had one fitted lol :) You all missed out it seems - about 6 months ago, a fully rebuilt 4.0 wa for sale several times on ebay, including low compression heads and a pair of turbochargers :) Buy it Now was £750.... I think that 4.0 24V is residing in a MkII Granada S 3 Dr model IIRC, not a scorp tho :) |
