The Threaded end (which the nut screws onto) has stripped. Can Any one supply this end part only or a cv joint with this thread attached. Sorry to be a bit vauge but i dont know what this part is called. Thanks for your help Terry. |

Title: Re: NSR Drive shaft Post by Scorpio_Mike on Feb 10th, 2009, 2:56pm Pretty sure it is the 'stub axle' you need. How did you manage to strip the thread :o |

Title: Re: NSR Drive shaft Post by gozz on Feb 10th, 2009, 5:54pm Terry. As Mike says its the drive stub you need, there are two types according to engine size, the smaller engines up to 2.3 have smaller constant velocity joint bolts.Best to bear this in mind when buying used. GOZZ. |

Title: Re: NSR Drive shaft Post by teaboyterry on Feb 10th, 2009, 6:45pm Yes i think thats what its called. I took the car back to the garage that fitted new bearings for the M.O.T in August last year because they were whining again(third time its been back) they diognosed that the nut had worn and ordered a new one. When they came to fit the new nut they could not undo the old one because the thread had stripped on the stub axle. My car is now undrivable because the wheel now wobbles. Terry |

Title: Re: NSR Drive shaft Post by gozz on Feb 10th, 2009, 9:28pm Terry. When the rear wheel bearings get into a parlous state, they always ruin the hub ie the bit with the wheel studs on,and frequently the hub carrier if they actually collapse. Most scrapyard hubs are damaged, but you can usually find a good carrier.A new hub is about £100,but I am talking to an engineer re turning the rough off and resleeving,he thinks about £40. Title: Re: NSR Drive shaft Post by teaboyterry on Feb 10th, 2009, 10:48pm Thanks gozz but i think i only need the stub axle at the moment, trouble is Ford no longer manufacture this part so i've got to find an old stock part or a second hand one Terry |
