Title: rear wheel bearing
Post by freerein on Apr 28th, 2009, 1:24pm
anyone got one ?

i have a 97 estate ultima that is squeaking badly - i can get a bearing from the auto factors but they are £50 and then i have to get it pressed into the plate

ugh - lots of fun and very little money in the pot over here!

a complete second hand hub is the easier/cheaper option ;)

freerein.
The bearing kit is £35.00,if you knock the old outer races from the hub carrier, assuming it's undamaged, you can grind a few thou off the circumference, and use one as a dolly to press the new ones in with a vice, then press the hub gently through the inner races supporting the rear one with a makeshift spacer.

If you place the new bearings & hub in the freezer overnight, then the bearings should tap on quite easily the next morning........Worked for me before  :)
