Title: Mirror inside Cover
Post by mondeoman on Oct 24th, 2009, 10:06pm

Hi,

I'm looking for a replacement cover for the inside of the car where the mirror is screwed to the body. The black plastic bit and screw cover. I've damaged mine changing the mirror, but must be in mint condition etc.

Or do Ford still sell these parts?

Cheers,

Mondeoman

Ivan,

Thanks I'll contact Ford tomorrow and see if they still have the parts. I don't think the mirrors are designed to be replaced with the type of screw covers fitted. No way can you get them out without doing quite a bit of damage.

Cheers,

Hi Ivan

The parts are no longer available from Ford, but I am able to get the little screw cap, for some reason! All I need is a 2nd hand electric mirror inside cover (mint condition) and I'm sorted. Doubt I will find one as most will be damaged when trying to remove the mirror etc.

I did ask the dealer and he claimed they did not have a special tool to remove the cover. Perhaps the just drilled the cap and replaced it every time?

I was able to remove both of my caps with a very small flat ended jewelers screwdriver (damage was negligible)

Bizzay,

That would be great if I am able to have yours, as long as it is not marked etc. I have replacement screw caps for the cover (still available from Ford at 42p each) so doesn't matter if you damage cap at all. If I ever have to take the cover off again I will drill the centre of the cap and pull it out so as not to mark the cover.

I am still after an inside passenger mirror cover as I have now replaced the mirror.

Does anybody have an undamaged and not marked cover for me?

I am still looking for the passenger side mirror cover to replace my wife's marked unit. It must be in mint condition with no marks, otherwise it will be no better than what I already have.

Cheers,

Mondeoman
