Title: Battery Cover with Bolt to keep it in place Post by mondeoman on Nov 24th, 2009, 6:49pm Hi, I already have a battery cover but I am unable to get the bolt to keep it in place and stop any water getting down the hole etc. Does anybody have a battery cover with screw+washer and I will replace the one I currently have? Cheers, Mondeoman |

Title: Re: Battery Cover with Bolt to keep it in place Post by mondeoman on Nov 24th, 2009, 7:01pm Yep that's what I am looking for the nut and metal plate etc to keep the cover in place. I'm a fussy sort of person and want everything in place as it should be when the car was new. I'll buy a new cover if I have to as long as it comes with the bolt to secure it in place. |

Title: Re: Battery Cover with Bolt to keep it in place Post by Baz on Nov 25th, 2009, 12:01am He doesn't need the clamp or bracketry it is the plastic nut that secures the battery cover in place (number 5 in the diagram!!). I haven't been able to locate one as yet, but I know I have a few somewhere..... |

Title: Re: Battery Cover with Bolt to keep it in place Post by Highlander on Nov 25th, 2009, 11:48am Thats not the one that came as standard (no 5 in the picture) it was plastic |

Title: Re: Battery Cover with Bolt to keep it in place Post by tlundkvi on Nov 25th, 2009, 3:19pm My original was probably lost when the previous owner replaced the battery. But the wingnut in place serves the purpose quite well. Plus it's available at the closest hardware store. |

Title: Re: Battery Cover with Bolt to keep it in place Post by mondeoman on Nov 25th, 2009, 6:30pm OK, I don't do this very often but I am going to accept some humble pie and admit that I am wrong and on closer inspection I need the brackets etc as well to secure the battery in place ::) So does anybody have the complete unit to secure the battery and cover in place? Will to pay sensible price for the bits. Cheers, Mondeoman |

Title: Re: Battery Cover with Bolt to keep it in place Post by Baz on Nov 26th, 2009, 9:10pm Not really, just lift the bonnet after rain and see how much water accumulates ontop of the battery cover.... then you realise why the nut is supposed to be plastic! |

Title: Re: Battery Cover with Bolt to keep it in place Post by lleewar on Dec 1st, 2009, 9:48pm I believe that the most important part in securing the battery cover is not the nut, whether it's plastic or not; it's the washer that needs to be of rubber content. A tap washer would suffice in keeping the water from the battery. |
