Title: LHD BOB main engine loom wanted 24v
Post by Cosray on Mar 18th, 2010, 3:47pm
Hi all, anyone know where to get hold of a main engine loom for my Cosworth 24v? Must be LHD.

Also it should be in good  :-/ condition.

It's gone up in smoke near/next the exhaust on the inside of the righthand wheel chassis beam just in front of the ABS viewed from the firewall.

Here's the pics: http://picasaweb.google.nl/babpic123/Aegon?authkey=Gv1sRgCNmu4LaW36q0hAE

eBay? eBay Germany?

Looking forward to any advice!
Ray

Hi,

I would go for Scorpioteile24@aol.com, he is a Bavarian breaker specializing in scorpios. He said once he had a <70000km driven 24V.

Mr Scorpioteile24@aol.com unfortunately could not help me... any other possible sources perhaps?

Would it be possible to rebuild your old one Ray?

Highlander yes: at a price. Current estimate € 2,750. No guarantee the car will run as components may have been damaged.

Apparently this loom runs from the steeringwheel, to the EEC, through the grommet and the firewall into the engine bay. Stripping the dash, taking the loom out, rebuilding it partly or wholly, depending on waht comes up, putting it back in...

If my back was younger than 60 years I'd do it myself as all you need is bend over the righthand wing and replace 60 or so wires and strands on site and seal them.

So I am looking for a low-cost electronics student with long arms, flexible back and a soldering gun.

:(

What can btw be the difference between LHD and RHD other than length? Not that a rebuilt/good one (no, no my cossie will not commit suicide) will be any easier to find for each variant :)

There are so many versions you wouldn't believe that automakers make a profit.

If you look at countryspecifics, parts that will not move for LHD and RHD but sit in the same space say heater/airco, BUT other items change places it is clear there are/must be differences...

I am afraid they are not interchangeable. Suppose you put an RHD loom in and it needs to be LHD... you would curse wouldn't you?

Here's the car, the wiring harnesses and the loom with FINIS codes and 96GG XXXX numbers:
