Title: 24v Steering UJ Post by granorpio on Jun 15th, 2011, 7:08am Hi all In my continuing quest (slow) to get the Scorpio back on the road I find myself as the title says in need of the universal joint that connects the steering rack to the steering column. Apparently, so I'm told, is that the 24v version is different to the rest. If anyone can please help me obtain a good one I would be most grateful. Muchas Thanks - Mike - * * * * * * * * * * * Please PM with costs |

Title: Re: 24v Steering UJ Post by Simmo on Jun 15th, 2011, 7:27am The rack on the 24v is certainly different in that it is speed sensitive. I'm sure one of our 'breaker boys' will confirm if the UJ is actually different. :) |

Thank you everyone for your replies. :) It's this kind of help that makes the decision to put the car back on the road easier and boy have I had serious thoughts about not doing so. I have to be honest been browsing the web looking at Omega's, but after last Sunday when I drove down to Wolverhampton to collect some parts from a man who has just dismantled his, I discovered that he has just bought himself an 03 plate, low mileage 2.6 Omega to replace it with and doesn't like it anywhere near as much as the 2.3 Scorpio that he has just broken (reason unkown). This also was a boost to go back to the Scorpio. Having said all of this though, there is still going to be soon the issue of the exhaust and also that really an Omega would actually make a lot more sense for me seeing as I work at a Vauxhall dealership. :( How on earth do you actually break one up? I haven't the heart to do so. After a Consul/Granada and three Granada's and now a Scorpio it's a love affair that's hard to break. Sorry guys for outpour. :-[ Simmo, it was Ford that told me that UJ on the 24v was different to all the other models. |
