Our 98 Ultima Cosworth is playing up a little and after a visit to our garage and a computer diagnosis we were advised that the problem could stem from either of the following.

1 The MAF

2 The Cat convertor/exhaust.

Advised to try the MAF replacement first can anybody advise where I can purchase a new unit?

This will give us a good start point to begin to eliminate the problem.

Try giving it a good clean with brake cleaner or petrol, the maf is a known cause of faults and 9 times out of 10 its just the element dirty.

Be advised not to poke anything down the hole, just use the flow of the cleaner etc to clean it

As Matt says DO NOT touch the electrodes inside. They are the equivalent of a bulb filament. All the details you need are Here (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cleanmaf.htm). If you have had a scan post up the details ie: the codes that were revealed. It would also help to detail the exact symptons as the boffins on here have dealt with most issues.
