Title: 98 Ultima Cosworth MAF Post by fox44 on Dec 21st, 2011, 2:19pm Our 98 Ultima Cosworth is playing up a little and after a visit to our garage and a computer diagnosis we were advised that the problem could stem from either of the following. 1 The MAF 2 The Cat convertor/exhaust. Advised to try the MAF replacement first can anybody advise where I can purchase a new unit? This will give us a good start point to begin to eliminate the problem. |

Title: Re: 98 Ultima Cosworth MAF Post by Matt on Dec 21st, 2011, 5:07pm Try giving it a good clean with brake cleaner or petrol, the maf is a known cause of faults and 9 times out of 10 its just the element dirty. Be advised not to poke anything down the hole, just use the flow of the cleaner etc to clean it |

Title: Re: 98 Ultima Cosworth MAF Post by Simmo on Dec 22nd, 2011, 7:16am As Matt says DO NOT touch the electrodes inside. They are the equivalent of a bulb filament. All the details you need are Here (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cleanmaf.htm). If you have had a scan post up the details ie: the codes that were revealed. It would also help to detail the exact symptons as the boffins on here have dealt with most issues. |
