A local elderly owner has asked me if I can help him locate a front suspension arm, or if the ball joint is replaceable perhaps using the kit from another model?

I have a used but serviceable arm available.
Ball joint is not, as far as I know, replaceable.

I tried for about Six months to find a replacement ball-joint from various manufacturers and going into four different trade suppliers to look through their shelves. You can get a new arm with ball-joint and small bush for about £70 each from Germany, I'm not sure of the link or where it is, perhaps it should be in permanent post somewhere as all the cars are getting older?

That firm no longer have them in stock & no sign of them getting them back.
If you want new theirs were QUINTON HAZELL QSJ2102S or QSJ2101S(n/s UK) if you google the part no you can find them on the continent.
There are other brands like this but I have no idea of the quality:

I thought Highlander had 'cured' the problem with a Puma replacement?????

Lee, the last post on this was in 2011. See How to do Things. As far as I know it has never been resolved. Stuart has been absent from the site for ages. A solution, if there is one, still awaits. :(

I was defeated............ :'( I had such high hopes especially from the USA. Those links above should maybe be permanent somewhere, and what happened to the QH German ones, they had loads of them?!

Not 100% sure on this but I thought any evidence of welding repairs to a forged suspension part would result in an MOT failure ?
