Title: 2 x 16 valve Radiators
Post by Nunnspoet on Oct 18th, 2016, 9:31am
Well folks, the Coolant Radiators on my two 24 valve Cossie Estates are bulging and leaking Coolant.  Having read Highlanders remedy whereby you fitted the Rad from a 16 valve to your Cossie I cannot see the point of fitting  new Cossie Rads as they will fail sooner or later.  And that at great expence.

So I really need 2 Radiators    ::) please

I love my Cossies

Mike

I have 1 brand new 16v radiator but it is for a manual car - no cooler connections for the autobox - I guess a separate oil cooler radiator could be fitted ?

Thanks Mike.  It's a good idea however there is no way that I could do the job - ain't got a clue.

Also on a couple of very hot days and stuck in long creepy-crawley traffic both of my Scorps suffered overheating causing the Auto-box's to overheat, otherwise I would be sorely tempted to go with your kind offer.

What do you think everybody?

Mike

Hi Gerald.

Thanks very much for the Link Gerald  I had a chat with City Radiators, Bilston, and I intend to get 2 Rads. from them.  All I need to do now is to remove a rad. take it up to them and have them make them up for me.

Mike

:-/ Sorry for the late reply Mike.  Thank you for the advice and I will certainly have a look.

In the meantime I decided to take my Rad to City Radiators, Bilston, as I like to see who I am dealing with, if possible.  And I was certainly not disappointed. Very welcoming and efficient.  I could not ask for better service. I am now in possession of a b/full new, shiny black Rad.    8)

Now all I have to do is fit it  :-/ :-/.

Oh yes; if anyone wants to use City Radiators to make a new Radiator make sure that you send the Fans as well as the old Rad.

Gentlemen.
I needed a new radiator for my 2.0ltr manual. Various websites listed them BUT when it came to ordering they were unable to source one. Ford say they are obsolete and do not have any. The one Scorpio Mike thought he had turned out to be for a Sierra.
However he suggested I contact a guy in Tunbridge Wells who is renowned for sorting any problem.
I visited the premises, a small old fashioned workshop, on Tuesday and delivered him the old rad. I returned this afternoon to collect it and was presented with a re-cored rad, shiny black. The cost was £160 which was equivalent to one alleged supplier and half that of another!  My mate and I will fit it over the weekend but I thought it was worth a mention on here. He does all types and vintage stuff is no problem. He was working on one for an old 'bull nosed' Morris when we went there today.
Details are Bryan and Son 165A Camden Road, Tunbridge Wells, Kent TN1 2RG. Tel. 01892 544635. :)
This YouTube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkTSRZhzz2I) gives you an idea of what is involved. The plastic tank is bedded on a rubber gasket.
This one (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SXAk6e7swU) shows the removal process.
