Title: Windscreen Weather Strip
Post by exucasvu on Nov 13th, 2016, 2:51pm
Hi all,
Can anyone advise me where I can obtain a top windscreen weather strip for my 2.3 1997 Scorpio Ultima Estate? This has suddenly disappeared but was probably dur to poor refitting after a windscreen change.  Maybe I am describing this part wrongly but I am having great difficulty sourcing it on the internet.
Many thanks

I had the same happen after a windscreen change a few years ago - I assumed they couldn't get the aluminium one out without damage & used a universal plastic one instead.

You could try the part no's from here:

I bought a pattern one from Rejel - clips 0864WCS & trim 0864WMHT.

However it didn't fit correctly it's listed as FORD GRANADA 1985 - 1998 so perhaps the Granny one's are slightly different.

The one I bought was very nice black gloss over aluminium, the problem was it was T shaped but I could only get it to fit by bending it to an italic T shape but I managed to do it with pliers without damaging the finish of the surface that shows. I notice the one listed is £10 cheaper than the one I bought so possibly plastic now which may be harder to adapt unless you silicone it into place.

I've just looked at a fitted trim, it came with the rubber filler that goes against the glass similar to what you'll see on the side trim. That was only glued on but kept coming away but once the trim was fitted it was trapped in place.
Each end of the top trim tucks under the side trim but I think I managed to bow it into place without removing a side trim.

I think I fitted the clips to the car then pushed the trim into them (needed a mallet and something soft to cushion the blows) - I'm just wondering if fitting the clips to the trim first would accommodate the angle of the T shape, can't really say if that was why I had problems without seeing it again.

Well, quite a coincidence!   I had a new screen fitted a few weeks ago, and I notice the very trim sits a wee bit proud on the drivers side.   I've tried pushing it down right into place, but it eventually just pops out again.   Must be weak clips.
