Last Fri I was moving the car outside the house and suddenly couldn't get reverse, then it would not start and the reversing lights didn't come on. All this pointed to a failure of the linkage to the TRS. I took the centre console out to check under the selector and the top part of the linkage was OK. I couldn't get the car jacked high enough to get underneath so had it collected by my local Auto Box guys. They just called and said the linkage is broken underneath. Ford no longer supply the part so they are trying to find a second-hand one. Can anybody help?

Do you have a part number ?
Is this the rod which has a ball connector at the ends ?

I believe they can be rebuilt with parts from other Fords but unfortunately my memory is that of a goldfish and so can not remember which ones.

Thanks for responses guys. I've printed a picture from the link for 'A4LDE Renew' and will go and check exactly which bit is broken tomorrow morning.

There's a bracket that often breaks that the pivot is on - held with 2 screws - 1 screw just above the top red arrow & 1 just above the blue arrow.

Thank you gentlemen, I've checked with the Auto Box guys and the bit that's broken is the linkage as shown in the picture from Highlander. If anyone has one that would be great.

You mean the metal bit which is fixed to the gearbox via the spring clip ?

OK, I think the spare bit I have is the rod at the bottom.

OK Mike, from what I've been told, it's most likely the bracket as described by Highlander - I may have to buy a complete old gearbox just to get it!

That may be an option. I'll ask them. Meantime they are also looking for the part. It's a shame I couldn't do it myself.
