Title: 1996 Nouveax red Cossie Ultima for sale
Post by Kevin_Tulloch on Apr 28th, 2007, 12:23pm
Hello one and all

I am selling my Scorpio Cosworth. I have had it nearly 6 years now and it has been a very, very good car to me and even now, i'm still debating about getting rid, but i have another car and just can't afford to run both. Some of the older members will know me, as i arranged a couple of Derby meets a few years ago, so they will know the car. I have always had the car serviced and when anything has needed doing, it has been done, no matter the cost. I have over £5000.00's worth of receipts to prove this. It has been stood the last 5 months, due to the bonnet cable snapping and i have finally managed to get it sorted out today, so i could get the battery back on and fire her up. She started up first time and still runs like a dream, not bad for a car with a 198000 miles on the clock. The climate control was serviced last year and it still blows out ice cold. I have checked everything that i can and all the electrics seem fine, all windows work, interior lights come on, etc, etc. The things that i know that i have had problems with is that the sunroof won't open, the motor is ok, but the rods have seized in the running tubes, so it is stuck. Sometimes when you go over bumps, the air bag light comes on. This has been like it, since i've had the car and i have had this checked out, but have been told there is no fault with the air bag system. the light comes on and off as it should when the ignition gets switched on and it has never failed an MOT for this. The drivers door will now not open with the key, it used to but i think it is worn, it open's fine the passenger side, but i've always used the remote to open it anyway! Also the auto dimming mirror doesn't work, it hasn't leaked, but you can see on the mirror. There is no radio or CD changer in the car, but all the leads and connectors are still there. The wheels are soft spoke alloys and they all have good tyres on them. I have also had an extra alarm fitted to work in conjuction with the original ford alarm. Basically when you deadlock the car on the ford remote (which i have), any windows and/or sunroof that are open, it will automatically close them. It also has a twin exhaust system on the back ( there are some photos on the website), which i still think looks and sounds very nice. Body work wise, there is the usual rust around the wheel arches and side impact bars on the doors and a few scratches and marks on the car, but nothing out of the ordinary. It has never had any welding done to it. The pads and discs will probably need changing, i was advised this last service, but now with the car being stood, it's probably advisable. The last MOT and service cost me about £1000.00 and the car hasn't done many miles since then. It ran out of MOT in March this year. It has no tax either. Basically, i am open to offers. Realistically, the car will need to be towed, due to it not having any tax or MOT. I would personally say, the car is still too good to be a doner car or stripped for bits, but that's not my decision!!! I think i have covered everything, but if you need any more info, you can call me on 07833986962, PM me or email me at kev_tulloch@yahoo.com. It might be better to phone, as i can't always get to a computer. I look forward to hearing from you

Kind regards

Kev

Kev's car is at the bottom of this page (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/customs.htm).

Hello stranger!

I know we only met the once Kev, but I still remember that day like it was last week. 40 Scorpios in a pub car park... Brilliant!   8)

Remember your car too. It was certainly one of the good'uns. Loved the subtle mods too  :)

Hi Paul

Yes it has been a long time!! Lot of things change and people move on, but like you, i still remember that day as well and it was a very good day. When the Scorpio goes, it will break my heart, as stupid as that sounds, it's like part of me. It's funny, with it just sitting outside where i live, not doing anything, it didn't bother me, but as soon as it fired up, things changed. It's been sat at least 5 months and it cracked up straight away, no squealing or missing and didn't miss a beat. All the levels were spot on and the climate control seems to be working fine, it's certainly blowing ice cold. The more i write this post, the more i think, should i keep the car, but from a financial point of view, it's not practical. I have a merc now and i don't even drive that, maybe once a week if i'm lucky. I'm a bus driver for Trent Barton in Nottingham and where i live, i'm only 10 minutes from town and i get free bus travel to and from work, so there's no point in driving the car. So do i have the running costs of 2 cars, just for the sake of it, or am i practical and get rid of the Scorpio. It has no MOT and i don't know how much it would take to get it through, but the heart could win over the head, if i'm not careful!!! If you judge a book by it's cover, then you probably wouldn't touch the car...high mileage....bodywork's not brilliant....but i KNOW the car, need i say any more?! One last thing, me and the girlfriend went to France, Belguim and the Netherlands last year in winter. We did about 1200 miles in 3-4 days, not ONE problem. I'll see if i get any takers, who knows i might be driving it again!!

Take care and kind regards

Kev

I remember about 2 years back when I first found the site, looking through and thinking how good that red Scorp looked. For some reason I've always remembered it, seen some nice looking Scorps but never one that appealed as much as yours (no offence to anyone else ;)). I'm not into boy racer mods but those twin pipes and tinted lamps just looked 'right' to me, my dream Scorp, lol :).

I guess you're in Nottingham? Shame you're not nearer ::).

Best of luck with it.

Regards, Bruce.

Hi Baz

Nice to hear from you. I'm still in touch with Kevin and Danny R, you live round their neck of the woods, don't you? Just let us know if you ever want to meet up, it'd be nice to see you again.

Hi Bruce

Thanks very much for the nice comments. As you probably have guessed, the Scorpio was my pride and joy and to a great extent it is now. I'm afraid money plays a big part in what i do, as it does with everyone i suppose. Yes, i do live in Nottingham, i presume by your post, you are a way away? By the way, you're not making it any easier for me to sell the Scorpio!!!!!

Paul, i've had to remove the "mods", due to obvious reasons!! I wouldn't like the boys in blue paying me a visit, saying they've just seen a Ford Scorpio doing a 100 mph with flashing headlights, strobe lights and sirens blaring........allegedly!!!!

Regards

Kev

Yeah Kev, I'm near Colchester in Essex, could never get that far to trailer a car home. Gradually working torwards getting another Scorpio under the premise of 'needing it for work' but trailering one home minus tax and MOT would be pushing it a bit ::).

Best of luck with it mate, nice car you have there :).

Regards, Bruce.

I met up with Kev a couple of times over the weekend, and i (and my wife) am/are now the proud new owners of Kevs car. So now we are a 2 Cossie family. One of them will certainly be at Harewood house in June.
All i have to do now is arrange to get it transported over here and i can start getting it back on the road.

Hi Kev.

Thanks for that. They do look great like that dont they?

I got around the wife issue by buying the car for HER, and then using it myself whenever possible. LOL

Had quite a few issues with the car, mainly due to it being stood up for so long, the last being a rad leak, and the worst being the Traction Control Unit, where the motor keeps locking up and stopping any throttle operation, but at present she is now running great.

I have to get back to see Kev T and let him have a ride in her again, but always seem to be too short of time at the mo.

However, we are about to embark on a house purchase and first time mortgage, so not sure if i will be able to afford to run 2 cossies, so there is a chance that one of them is going to have to make way for something cheaper to run. GROAN!!!!!!
