Well Gary emailed me some pics at my request, and has given me permission to post them.

Shes looks tip top never seen a 2.0 with all the extras!

I would have snapped her up but I'm not a fan of the cream interior.

Thanks for your help Pete.

To be honest, I wouldn't be selling the car if I hadn't lost my job. The previous owner was the engineering director of Dowty Aerospace, he bought it as his personal car and had it regularly serviced, whatever the cost.  Just last September, he spent over £400 on it for the MOT.   It is a real joy to drive and it will be a shame to see it go.

Looks nice Gary. I've just bought an estate, same year, same colour, same interior, same engine and gearbox!! How weird is that? ;D

Is it just me, or does there seem to be more and more of the older cars being fitted with the facelift front grille?
I personally prefer the older chrome grille, I like my bling! ;D

Good luck with the sale Gary. ;)

Dan.

Is there anyone interested?  Am I asking too much?  I am open to offers because I need to sell it quickly.  I will even deliver the car if needs be.

Hi Gary.sadly they don't fetch much after the 100,000K mark....check out the prices on Ebay and you will get an idea of the current value.
My brother is looking for a manual at the moment but only wants to part with £300 as it would be a temporary car till his estate is roadworthy again....it's a drop from what you are looking for I know but he is a serious buyer and could collect from Stroud...let me know or PM me...cheers....steve 8)

Very few are in this condition, far betther than on e-bay.  £300 is far too low, I am open to sensible offers considering the history of this car.

Hi, fully understand but this is usually the mileage where the probs start...he would go to £400 if you could deliver to Macclesfield in Cheshire...suppose that would cover your fuel and train fare home...have you thought about putting her on Ebay?? regards....steve

I'm still willing to do a deal with someone from this site.  I am negotiable on price but please bear in mind what you are getting for what I am asking.  When I bought the scorpio, I also had a BMW 730d, the only main things different between the 2 cars was sat nav, a phone system and leather seats.  The scorpio was years ahead of its time and has had a lot of money spent on it to ensure it has many years of driving left in it.

I agree Gozz.....sadly the light/cream  interior gets grubby looking and puts a lot of buyers off....my brother is still interested Gary at £400 delivered to Cheshire but leave her on Ebay.....you never know your luck.... ???

Just wondered Gary why she needed so much spending on her for the last  MOT.....are there other problems needing attention at the next MOT do you think?? ???

No other problems that I know of.  There was an advisory for a small amount of welding but we are talking £20-30 pounds worth.  The majority of the bill was for standard parts being replaced due to wear and tear.  The previous owner had the cam-belt done at 105000 miles.  Unfortunately, I do not have all the old bills but I think he did a lot of the work himself because he was an engineer.  The reason he sold it was because he was getting a brand new Mondeo and the dealership didn't want to take the car in part-ex but gave him a big discount instead.

OK, I have just got out the paperwork.  Maybe I should have done this first.  The car was first registered on 23rd August 1995 NOT 1996.  The advisory was:

"Both sill-floor edges at rear and underbody surface rust. s/brake and fuel pipes surface rust, slight play both rear lower arm bushes"

The work done for the MOT was Fitting new discs and pads, flexi hoses, brake caliper, rack gaiters, new bulbs and labour.  The bill came to £400.69.  Not sure how much it would cost to put things right for the next MOT.  The previous owner said it would only cost £20-30.

Hi Gary...firstly Scorp's dont have cam belts....they are chain driven and the only reason to replace one on a Scorp is if the old one had broken which always results in engine damage. Usually on either high milers or thrashed cars. The welding as advised I estimate would come to around £100 (carpets out etc) and the rear bushes is about another £50 ish.....although she might drive well now I would take what I could and avoid the apparent upcoming expense at next MOT.... ???

Thanks for the help and advice.  The wife just told me it wasn't the cam belt on this one.  Shows how much I know about cars.  I can drive them fine but maintaining is a different matter - thats why I always go to the local garage and end up giving them lots of money for (urgent) repairs.

Because of the car not selling via e-bay, I am now desperate for it to go.  Therefore, I am offering it for £400 plus delivery if required.  Please contact me as soon as possible if you are interested.  Cheers - Gary
