ADMIN. . . .

can you start another thread re insurance

We have this on the xr4x4 site it really helps ALL DRIVERS

like cheap places places to avoid etc

best one for me for

a Cossy 24v is £500  Hastings ( confused dot com )

Jeffs 2.3. . .       £400  Ditto

And im 50yr old had Licence for 30 odd year

Edit
Cant get a classic on them there not old enough

Title: Re: ********  Wanted AUTO   *********
Post by pinto on May 6th, 2009, 4:53pm
I beleive im paying a smidge over £300 through Budget - that was also through confused :)  Might be worth having a look at Direct line - they quoted me £390 for my cossie ( im 32 with 7 years NCB)

Must admit, I wasn't too impressed with Adrian Flux  >:( they quoted me £495 for a standard cossie, and when i went through the detailed quote process, they INCREASED it for less miles, garaged and (probably cheeky) i mentioned i was a club member.

pinto.
I,ve got two old cars,I just left Adrian Flux, they wanted £25 'Certificate Issue Fee' and also took £15 for personal accident cover without permission.I asked them to cancel and put the money back.
                                     GOZZ.

:o Yea we all have to shop around I also found out the hard way you have all seen my car from post 1 well its a long story but heres the short version

I had the mk1 XR4x4  "C reg" for 17yrs it was getting on a bit but boy did it handle well so spent £6000 on total rebuild engine gear box and full respray just over a year . . .

NOW the insurance bit. . .
so be carefull here guys PLEASE ALL LEARN by my mistake

I had full comp cover with legal aid ( no matter what it costs TAKE LEGAL AID )
OK sir said the young lady and how mucy is it worth so I thought for a bit and not to push the price up I said £3000  ok so I get policy through and it states full comp social domestic and pleasure  it cost me £250 . . . .

Had accident when young kid hit me up rear end car total write off and they sent me a cheque for . . .
. . .

£200

So you can imagine what happened next . . .
Yep im on phone and no matter what you say the car is worth . . . .
YOU WILL ONLY GET BOOK PRICE

So if you want to protect you investment you will need a classic insurance ( 20yr old  and above cars only ) or get an AGREED value

So if your car is worth say £3000 and you only using normal insurance fully comp and the book value is say £1000 then thats what you will get . . . .

I was told its a 22yr old sierra and book price is £200. . .

So please all take note

ADMIN Guys we could do with a INSURANCE post to put all these in

EDIT
Foot note. . .
my MK11 xr4x4 now is with Peter D James classic £260 and £4500 value agreed with Pics and I can drive any other vechile with break down cover AND FULL LEGAL AID

We've had countless insurance threads over the years discussing agreed price etc, including a few people who have fought the insurance company for a fair settlement after being offered buttons and won :)

Did you ask them to replace your car for you with one of the same model and in the same condition? that one seems to work ;)

at the end of the day the best advice for the individual appears to be just shop around, whats good for one isn't necessarily good for all and to be honest you have a slightly different situation to us Scorpio owners, not many of our Scorpios will be worth over £1000 however much we cherish them, indeed I keep telling family members that run Scorpios they are worth more in bits... sad but true.
I use confused.com and a couple of the other comparison sites, i have loyalty only to the cheapest deal at the time, currently Churchill, £185 for TPFT on a 24v with legal cover.

Previously Norwich Union offered me a tremendous quote then tried to more than double it on the renewal!!
