Title: Scorpio Resale Values Post by Moonchalk on Mar 21st, 2010, 9:01pm I've noticed recently that a decent, well maintained Scorp will still fetch £500 - £1000 on eBay. I paid £800 for my 65k 98 2.3 nearly two years ago and reckon I could still get not far off that now on the evidence of other sales, even thought is now sitting on 85k. Zero depreciation in two years puts a big grin on my face and sticks up two fingers to others who seem to wonder why I continue to run a 12 year old car ;D I wonder if Scorp resale values have bottomed out and may even now begin to appreciate for those cars in good condition. Anyone else agree? :) |

Title: Re: Scorpio Resale Values Post by Scorpio_Mike on Mar 21st, 2010, 10:25pm Scorpio values can't really get much lower IMHO. Look at the prices decent Mk3 Granadas are fetching now they are no longer common, especially the rare 4x4 version. I think there were only a handful of 4x4 Mk3 estates sold. Scorpio has to go the same way. |

Title: Re: Scorpio Resale Values Post by mondeoman on Mar 25th, 2010, 10:48am Well I paid just over £1800 for an M REg 2.9 24v Ultima saloon from a garage with low miles (65k) and full service history. I had all the bills for all repair work and most was done at a Ford main dealers. My second Scorpio for my wife is a Facelift (early style) R Reg 2.3 Ultima Saloon which I bought on here with some substantial dents to front bonnet, cracks in front and rear bumper, plus a crease in the boot, and a damaged wing mirror. I paid just over £950 for that which had even lower miles, approx 55k. Both cars has no real rust problems on the body, so I'm very happy with what I paid for them both. I did get the major work done to my wife's car and it now looks stunning. In the end a car, like anything else is worth what your willing to pay for it :) |

That would be before the scrap price increase, even today a Scorpio will make nearly 200 quid as scrap, our local scrappy is paying 135 per tonne just now for scrap cars, thats nowhere near the prices a year ago, but might explain the values or the spares or repairs cars. My usual tactic is to buy a cheap mot failure or non runner, remove what i want from it and scrap the rest, usually the scrap money will cover the purchase price |
