Title: The Y reg is for sale **Now on Ebay**
Post by amigafan2003 on Feb 11th, 2017, 2:10pm
The time has home to sell my cherished Scorpio Ultima 24v Cosworth - the Y reg!  We've just bought a Mondeo Titanium X Sport and can't justify two big Fords in the household so the Y reg is available for someone else to own after spending 7.5 glorious years in my possession.

What's wrong with it?

It's a Scorpio, there's got to be something wrong with it right?  You can tell I'm not a car salesman!  Body work is in VERY good condition, as would be expected from the work done above;  however in the interests of honesty, it does have some age related blemishes.  The drivers side rear wheel arch had a scab come through about 13 months after the arch was fitted (typical - just outside warranty) but it hasn't got any worse and hasn't broken through the paint.  The passenger side arch has just started with a very small bubble.  The rear bumper has minor scratches.  There's an odd mark on the edge of the bonnet - about 50p in size - looks like some bird poop hasn't been cleared off quickly enout and it's marked the laquer a little.   That's it really and I've done my best to show these blemishes in the photos below.  If you would like additional photos please let me know.

The interior lights don't work (but dash/console lights do).  I never have started looking into this like I wanted to but it's never bothered me.  I suspect it will be something to do with the cigarette socket as the previous owner said the lights stopped working when he was messing with it one time and I have had the lights come on ONCE when I pushed the bottom of the dash near the socket.  A couple of dash bulbs have blown near the fuel gauge - still readable though and not a major job to change them.

Sunroof seal has swollen at the rear so it needs a helping hand to open and close, but it does retract fully.  I've never really used it due to the climate control working very well!

The only other item I'm aware that needs attention and was on my to do list this summer along with the items above is the fuel tank straps are looking a bit worse for wear.  Don't worry, the tank isn't going to fall off but I'd change them in the next year or so.  I will include two good condition 2nd hand straps with the car for you to fit.

And that's it, a cracking car and with a tiny bit of effort will be an excellent show car (tbh, I'd quite happily show it now and it always gets good comments from dleivery drivers when they deliver to my house - I've been offered good money for it countless times).

I'm pricing this at £2800 £2500 due to the unique history and nature of this car, the fact it's a facelift in very good condition and due to the amount of mechanical work that's been done on the car - most of the mechanical risks that will bite you in the ass with a Scorpio Cosworth (dodgy suspension/leaky water pump/leaky fuel tank/rattly engine/balloned radiator/siezed caliper) have already been taken care of.  Location is Blackpool, Lancashire.  You can text me at 07500703504 for more info.

Be very interesting for all of us if this car sells, and how much for.   A top-car.   The very best to the seller and lets hope it goes for the price.

Well, the scratch on the rear drivers side passenger side door was really bugging me, so I took it to my local detailer who I book it in with once a year and he did a machine polish on the panel and it's come up a treat :-)  Can barely see it now.

Hello  that link is not working,

Many sellers get let down by ebay and many cars take 3 or 4 listsings to sell, and ebayers want everything for nowt.

Wish you luck (again) with it, put mine on autotrader, that way they got to view it first.

Can I ask about the K&N filter - is it the one they list for the Granada Cosworth? and what did it take to make it fit|?

Title: Re: The Y reg is for sale **Now on Ebay**

It's not the one for the Granada - there is no induction kit for the Scorpio.

This filter is a 76mm universal K&N, then I sourced a 76mm flange to mount to the air flow meter, removed the resonator pipe and linked the air flow to throttle body using two 45deg silicon hose and an aluminium joiner.

Filter (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-K-N-KN-Replacement-Cold-Air-Intake-Filter-76mm-3-inch-Air-Filter-/253027353196?hash=item3ae99b026c:g:sPoAAOSwoydWiwW4)
Flange (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Air-Filter-Inlet-Adaptor-Fits-Nissan-Primera-1992-1996-/290467550058?epid=1256937119&hash=item43a137136a:m:mMNDZGh7DEe2w2pNCa4Wq3g)
Joiner (hhttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aluminium-Coupler-Silicone-Hose-Connector-Joiner-86mm-/290579738401?hash=item43a7e6ef21:m:mAjw-3Xgkr80Qb00wcNB5ZQ)

Can't find any 86mm 45 deg boost hose on ebay atm - 90mm should work though.

Car got picked up today and should now be in another seaside home of Gt Yarmouth.

Gary the new owner seems lovely and is planning to take good care of it, I'm sure you'll all make him feel welcome if he signs  up here.

As part of the sale proceeds, I'm going to make a small donation to say thank you to everyone on the site who have helped me over 11 years of Scorpio ownership.

Well done, have watched the saga on ebay unfold. Very happy for you and a good price to boot just one thing you have to drive a Mondeo now then?!
.
More by the seaside now then, though I still haven't seen one down here - must be on my tod - methinks.

Still I will be in the car park at the Ugbrooke car show on the 27th.
