Title: Virus (Stop you from opening links) Post by JohnJ on May 9th, 2004, 10:30pm Im running Adaware 6 Pro, Spybot search & destroy and Norton Antivirus and still some little runt from somewhere still managed to alter my registry...I first noticed it on the Scorpio site when I couldnt open a link of a Bishops Limo, didnt take any notice of it but then noticed I couldnt open any link (in new window)..so if any on you fellow scorpions get this prob heres how to fix it.. RESOLUTION To resolve this problem in Internet Explorer, follow these steps: Quit all programs that are running. Click Start, and then click Run. Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK. When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK. If this does not resolve the problem, repeat steps 2 through 4 for each of the following files (in step 3, replace Urlmon.dll with each of the file names below): Shdocvw.dll Msjava.dll Actxprxy.dll Oleaut32.dll Mshtml.dll Browseui.dll Shell32.dll (Windows XP and Windows 2000 only) Very usefull.....took me a week to sort out. JJ ;) Sorry I know this is the Scorpio site but I quite proud of my self. ;D |

Title: Re: Virus (Stop you from opening links) Post by steptoe on May 11th, 2004, 12:43am John j In your rant you have said the magic word Norton. This program is probably the least reliable i know for firewall capabilities and virus checking. the programs you and all you technophobes out there need are avg virus software which is free www.grisoft.com and zonealarm, also free and recommended by microsoft www.zonealarm.com Both these progs are tested and reliable and all you users should have them :) |
