Title: Back to the fold.
Post by qudo on Sep 17th, 2004, 11:46pm
I used to run to Volvo 760's, then I discovered the Scorpio so changed  and got a 2.3 and a 2.9 12v, both Ultimas. After a 100,000 miles in each, they were both sold on and a BMW 750iL E38 and a 730iL E32 replaced them.  My son and I now find that we miss the Scorpio more than any car we have owned so the 730 will now go. We are looking for a low mileage, 2.9 24v Ultima saloon of the type just before the face lift so we get all the bits Ford decided to drop.  It may be a hard search, but hopefully we may soon be back with you.

Hi m8, I hope you find your Scorp.... I have a facelift ghia model and it's not the toys that make the car..it's the way she drives... I have driven all the big beemers too and nothing touches the Scorp for the way it just does everything soooo well..smooth as silk and fast as  f**k if you want it to be.
I know it would be good to find one with all the bits and bob's but don't discount the other ones.. look at how she feels.. and sounds... that's the mark of a goodun.

Good luck finding your Scorpio

regards

George

Try this one:

http://www.elkinsford.co.uk/mainframe.html

(look under the used cars list near the bottom)

They have a blue 1998 but pre-facelift 24v Ultima with 37,000 miles on the clock up for sale at 6 grand. I'm sure they will be open to offers as they have had it for a while now.

mmm... looks nice. And very low miles too. You would need to get yourself a deal on it though.

It might be a bit like mine - it goes down as a '98 beacuse that's when it was registered (January in my case) but it was built back in September '97. Mine has pretty much all the bits, although not those puddle lights. But other than that, its all there.

I notice in the description it mentions drivers electric seat. Remember, some only had this on the drivers seat and not on both.

I agree with George though, don't disregard a perfectly sound example just because it doen't have, say, the headlamp levelling switch or something silly. Its far more important to get a good driver... especially with a 24v.

Paul
