I've seen a parking sensor mentioned in the handbook - I seem to have every extra bar this one on my ultima, anyone know if it can be retrofitted or if its any good?

The rear parking radar was an option on all models, even the ultima. It consists of 2 sensors either side of the rear number plate and a dispaly, of red, amber and green lights mounted on the rear shalf.
I have them on my facelift estate and they work really well, look neat and tidy, well worth fitting if you get the chance. I think the kit was £150ish from ford but aftermarket kits are cheaper.

I fitted one to my previous Car. The one I have now had them already fitted. Easy fit but hard to find. I got mine from a breaker but one did pop up on ebay last year and went for about 40 quid. Not bad as it was unused and still in the box

Robby, I fitted a set to my Ultima estate and I know Fitzy has also done so. It was quite straightforward and very neat with a tiny display unit sitting on top of the rearview mirror. It works well and is extremely accurate in terms of the distances it indicates. I got mine from a firm in Scotland ,I think it was TG Online, and the cost was about £45. They did a variety of kits. Mine is a four sensor unit but they did an eight one as well which enables you to cover the front if you wish. Good luck. Simmo

Best place for reversing sensors I have dealt with is:

Have fitted set to my scorpio, previous granada, focus - 100% every time and at very reasonable price. Colour coded etc - even supply the bit for drilling the bumper which takes seconds and ensures perfect fit. ;)
Choose off site and send cheque - delivered within 2/3 days.

Typically £45 for 4 sensor set with all bits n pieces.

LOL, but I don't wear them under my car for all to see, they are safely tucked away on my revolving tie rack!!

Anyone with neon lights, a big bore exhaust, a motorsport sunstrip, or blue washet jets, needs to have their knees removed and given to someone else.

Under-car 'Chav' lights - hmmm, now where have I seen them fitted to a rather handsome 2.3 Scorpio with private plate not too far away from me here in Somerset..
