Title: Re: Forum changes Post by Geoff_W on Dec 3rd, 2004, 11:16am Or the site has moved to France and we are an hour behind. Actually gave myself a bit of a "I should be somewhere else ???" moment when I looked at the clock. Also having to log in each visit, but thats really not a problem. |

Title: Re: Forum changes Post by Snoopy on Dec 3rd, 2004, 12:38pm If you resave your bookmark then you will be remembered when you come back! otherwise you will have to log on eachtime Also the DNS servers seem to be updating better on Wanadoo now will wait and see! But thanks...... |

Title: Re: Forum changes Post by Snoopy on Dec 4th, 2004, 9:54am Well as a long term Freeserve user .. I am sorry to announce that it is NO better but thanks for trying Steve.. Still took four atempts and different addresss to get it to work.. but what the heck its only time....Will be changing to a different ISP very very soon...... |
||
Title: Re: Forum changes Post by admin on Dec 4th, 2004, 10:59am There is a 'hack' that can be used by Freeserve/Wanadoo users who can't get access to the site. That's until they change to a decent ISP of course LOL Open up a file called 'Hosts' which is located in WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/DRIVERS/ETC and edit it using Notepad. The last line should read 127.0.0.1 localhost and UNDER this line add in 69.46.25.240 www.fordscorpio.co.uk Then save the file and you may have to reboot the PC. This bypasses the DNS server at Wanadoo for the fordscorpio site, forcing your PC to find the correct IP address. Let us know if that helps Steve |

Title: Re: Forum changes Post by Snoopy on Dec 4th, 2004, 11:07am Already tried that on the old system... didn't work will try it again now and post back.....! Right Now that seems to work this time .... Thanks Will keep an eye on it for now Regards |

Title: Re: Forum changes Post by howiedintheplace on Dec 4th, 2004, 7:55pm Hi All I am one of the troubled Wanadoo users. Sorry to report the changes you have made seem to have made it even more of a pain to get this site. The hack does work. Thanks for trying. |
||
Title: Re: Forum changes Post by admin on Dec 5th, 2004, 12:27am Does that mean that you have implemented the hack and that you can now get access to the web site and the forum? Thanks Steve |
||
Title: Re: Forum changes Post by Snoopy on Dec 5th, 2004, 9:07am Steve, I have implemented the 'hack' and thios now seems to have solved the problem.... Before i had to keep trying until I found an ip address that worked... ried all the other dodges.. but it seems to be working now ok for me... I personally am changing ISP after Xmas |

Title: Re: Forum changes Post by Vulcan on Dec 5th, 2004, 11:30am I haven't been able to get the forum since thursday, just got it back this morning by going to the main site and clicking the forum link. My saved bookmark just constantly said the site was in maintenance mode and I couldn't log in. It was (and still is if I use the bookmark) showing as Admin only log in. My bookmark url is... http://forum.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl |
||
Title: Re: Forum changes Post by JohnJ on Dec 5th, 2004, 1:17pm I never noticed a problem, because I never bookmarked the forum only the site and clicked on the forum link to get access. ;D but I have done now. I did notive that I had to login in again but only once. |

Title: Re: Forum changes Post by Paul B on Dec 5th, 2004, 1:44pm My bookmark wouldn't work and neither would the link from the main site. Eventually I asked on the mailing list and someone (sorry, I forgot the name) gave me the link they were using. Bookmarked this new one now & all is fine. Mind you, its quiet on here so I guess others are still not here. One small problem... Scratch that - its sorted itself out now ??? |

Title: Re: Forum changes Post by howiedintheplace on Dec 5th, 2004, 7:36pm Just to make it clear, yes the hack posted by admin earlier in this post does work, although perhaps you should not call it a hack as the same kind of thing is used by people running dodgy software that needs to access the internet to check it is registered before it runs. |
||
Title: Re: Forum changes Post by howiedintheplace on Dec 5th, 2004, 7:44pm Vulcan I just tried your link & it says The page can not be displayed. I am using Wanadoo, if you change it to: http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl it should work, well it does for me. |
||
Title: Re: Forum changes Post by Steve_S on Dec 6th, 2004, 1:32pm Well I have had terrible problems. I thought the site had closed down because I was unable to get on here for so long. I had just about given up all hope. Ok I have tried the fix, thanks to snoopy emailing me the details. but it still seems to intermittent. I too will be changing from wanado. Tesco seems to be the cheapest broadband at the moment. Think I will start a new discussion on this. |

Title: Re: Forum changes Post by admin on Dec 10th, 2004, 1:05am Bookmarks will no longer work - we changed the URL from forum.fordscorpio.co.uk to www.fordscorpio.co.uk to help our poor Wanadoo customers :) For those with a decent ISP (LOL) then forum.fordscorpio.co.uk still holds a backup copy of the forum but is permanently in maintenance mode. Steve |

Title: Re: Forum changes Post by Steve_S on Dec 10th, 2004, 2:37am Think the Fix has worked, have had no problems for nearly a week now Cheers |

Title: Re: Forum changes Post by Simmo on Dec 10th, 2004, 7:41am I have got the full site today for the first time for months.I am one of the Wanadoo users referred to. Steve C e-mailed me the 'fix'refered to but just before trying to do it (I'm an OAP and these things are rocket science) I used the normal www.fordscorpio and lo and behold it worked.!!! Fingers crossed!!! Simmo. Thanks Admin. |
