Today I got to drive the Scorpio ;D. The van will currently not even jump start, so I am now on the insurance for the Scorp. Took the doggies out in it today, so couldn't go too mad - wouldn't want flying dogs in there.

It has been a while since I drove an auto, had to supress that desire as the car comes to a halt to press the clutch before it stalls!

Much as it's lovely and luxurious and smooth, and effortless, I still sort of want my van fixed and heated again (does that make me really strange?)

Ah yes, the old dipping the 'clutch' and head hitting the windscreen routine. That's such fun ;) You soon learn though don't you?

And are you strange for prefering your van? Well... maybe... a bit ;)

Thankfully, with the dogs in the back, I managed not to actually do it. I think because I was driving like a good occasional auto driver with my left foot wedged behind my right leg. Didn't stop the muscles in my left foot twitching every time though ::)

I guess I'll get used to it though. I think that's why I'm missing the van too, because I was used to it.

Dont worry ellie they are only jealous because u have more room in it to get more money and spend barrys money ha ha ha

Its because u are use to a manual and the van is a quite abit smaller than the scorpio , barry will just have to let u drive it more at weekends.

Hows the hotel hunting going have u found anywhere let

I wrote the one before this but graeme was signed in and i didnt check .

ah the manual to auto conversion..always fun. few times i ragged my carllton auto thru the box and stomped the brake as i shifted from 1st to 2nd :-[ how we laughed as our takeaway rolled across the floor..

yes thats right but they never did one for the scorpio and i dont think they will ever do one for such a brillant car :( :(

I had always preferred manuals till my first auto LOL ;)

I think it is the size issue for me, I just feel too small for the Scorpio after the van.

Having said that, the Scorpio is easier to park than my van, despite being the size of a small tank. I think it's the power steering and mirrors you can actually see something useful in, and not either the pavement and houses, or the side panels, or the sky. I am forever trying to park the van with my head out the window, looking, no doubt a right prat.

I'm definitely with you on the using it more often solution Mrs P. It is nice and warm in the Scorpio.

Actually, there is one at work at the moment, meant to post on here in 'Seen By You' but I think I'd know if there was another member at the University. Anyway, it is a aubergine N/M reg I think saloon, has been parked in prime position right outside the main building, so maybe its someone important (and that's why I don't know who it is!)

Alan, what are you suggesting about women drivers? ::)

Though I've got the day off tomorrow, the bloodmobile will be there, so I will probably (extremely sadly I know) be going into work in the Scorpio briefly tomorrow. I'll see who I can impress. :P
