Title: mot & car performance update
Post by tommy1340millar on May 30th, 2006, 12:16pm
Car failed mot on Co2 emissions, so I got a cat. When the mechanic went to fit it, he found that the exhaust manifold was cracked. He welded it, reassembled, it still failed, so he fitted the new cat. Car sailed mot even before it was hot  ;).
MoT expenditure (in the 3 weeks leading up to test)was - 4 x Vredestien Hi-Tracs @ £47 ea.
2 x front arb links @ £38 the pair
2 x rear calipers @ £148 the pair.

got the car back  Friday 19th May, drove it very sanely all week -  the first time I used it in anger was last Thursday, 25th May. I was surprised at how well it goes now. I used to have to change down on hills as it was gutless, but on Thursday night I sailed up Cairnie Brae (near Perth) The car went so well, that I didn't even notice the police speed trap until a mile up the road when I was pulled over and got charged for doing an average of 98.something on a 70mph road  :-[

The next day, I was doing EXACTLY 70mph on the motorway, ran over what looked like a piece of wood ( bit of exhaust?) tore a saucer sized chunk out of my 2 week old driver's side rear tyre. Lost the wheeltrim.
Had my big fat arse stuck out beside the car's big fat arse changing a wheel on the hard shoulder at 1.45 pm, on my way to play at a wedding service at 2.30pm.
Straight after the service I had to go and spend another £47 on a tyre. (despite my protests, it wasn't under guarantee! )

If things happen in threes, what'll happen next?........
