Title: Turning off the passenger airbag???
Post by dete on Jul 12th, 2006, 11:11pm
HI, we are new!!!  We've just bought a scorpio 2.9 cosworth, just been out for the first drive in it!!!  Just wondered if anyone knew how we can turn the passenger airbag off, (as I've heard you can do this).  We have a 7 week old baby and obviously I'd like her in the front seat!  Thanks in advance

I don't think it is possible. I know some ford models such as focus etc. had the facility to do this but as far as I am aware it was not available as an option on the Scorpio. A dealer may be able to put a switch in somewhere but may be a dear job!!

Also be aware that some of the late model facelift cars had side airbags and as the car was not designed to have a cut off to the front airbags, the side ones may have some impact on a rear facing child seat.

Ford do say its not possible to turn off that air bag if fitted look on vin tag on dash top x1  or x2 if both fitted dash tops the same iether way. was a recall mod on pas. air bag as they sometimes went off with static build up! if nobody has removed it should be a sticker inside car if side bags fitted...
