Title: Re: Richard Hammond Appeal..? Post by Geoff_W on Sep 27th, 2006, 3:57pm I was with the YAA operating team at Yeadon today, G-SASK had a call out at about 12.30 to go to support an ambulance team who were having difficulty in getting a casualty to a spot where they could be loaded into a conventional ambulance... a decision was taken to airlift the casualty to the nearest specialist unit...... Their daily static operating cost is £3600 ........Kerching that sortie cost another £340 The incredible news is that http://www.justgiving.com/PHRichardHammond subscriptions have nearly reached 200k including tax credits on giving. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m140/Geoff_W/DSC00193.jpg http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m140/Geoff_W/DSC00195.jpg http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m140/Geoff_W/DSC00196.jpg http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m140/Geoff_W/DSC00197.jpg http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m140/Geoff_W/DSC00198.jpg |

Title: Re: Richard Hammond Appeal..? Post by Geoff_W on Sep 27th, 2006, 6:02pm A very fair point Dave, All the Air Ambulances in England and Wales are in the same boat and need any help that you can give them and your local service will really appreciate any contribution. YAA have picked up a significant lift of support simply by doing what all the Air Ambulances do, allowing the maximum amount of the Golden Hour to be used at a specialist unit rather than trying to get there. It is worth finding out more about your local Air Ambulance and what they need. My local one is YAA so I am delighted about the huge amount of support they have drawn from around the world. In other countries this service is typically state funded, which is the case in Scotland as I understand it. There was a discussion about the NHS providing operational funding but that would have then been linked to the Treasury cycle and the administration load was set to treble. >:( |
