Title: I may have to sell mine...
Post by Penguin on Jun 1st, 2007, 5:47pm
... with great reluctance but I'm running out of money. If I do (I'll be making the decision in about a month's time) I will, of course, offer it here first.  Before that, however, I was wondering if a concensus as to its value may be reached. I am hoping for £1250, and am wondering if this is realistic.

Stats are:
'98 Cosser Ultima Estate on an S in moondust silver.  Automatic. Facelift. 116k. Tax/MOT to November.

One of the very few with side airbags. CC Mod present but not connected. Everything works except for one horn (earth fault needs tracing) and the sender for the temperature guage may be in need of a clean or replacement  (wavers about a bit when the car is stationary). Has very nice Alpine stereo with CD/Tuner head unit and autochanger in boot.

No history before me (Dec '05) but since me has had the complete work-over with bills to prove it, specifically - Gearbox, head gasket, front suspension, all four pads discs and tyres (and more).

Is £1250 realistic?

PS - Moderators, please don't move this to Cars For Sale, it isn't yet.

Cheers

Hi. I know you'd like to get that but it's a bit optimistic, at least on somewhere like eBay :(.

But then, being a cosworth makes it worth more than a DOHC  ::)

Cosmetic condition? Any rust? paintwork issues?

You might need to sort the issues to get a price like that, I know from when I sold mine, people want them perfect otherwise they walk away :'(

Good luck whatever you do ;)

Regards, Bruce.

Cosmetically it's pretty near perfect. Few carpet scuffs but certainly no rust.

Sounds fair enough to me for a facelift 24v, might be interested myself ;)

Thanks, I'll let you know in a couple of week's time whether or not I have to take this path and stick in the cars for sale section if I do.

Decision made.  For the next couple of months I still need it but I will almost certainly be selling it in late September.

if the arches are good on the rear she sounds a winner. worth looking at putting a 12mth ticket on though I always find it sells a old car Fast ! if the arches are sweet and highlander is busy , I could be worth a pm myself . the best of luck.
