hi and welcome

if everyone that saves a few quid as a result of help from the website/forum/mailing list were to donate a £1 of their savings, it would make running it easy.

have a read of THIS (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=news;action=display;num=1187288365)

Yeah, has got quiet lately, hope it's not the start of a downward trend..

we also lost a few regular members last year, Spanners, Nic, Craig etc, things have been a bit quiet since :(

You don't even need the car to feel at home over here, Highlander is still pounding the keys over on eBay, trying to sell me to another forum I think...

This forum is so friendly and open, you feel almost like part of a family..

Regards, Bruce.

You've been relisted twice already with no bids and no reserve! and the XJ forum just moan about you talking about Scorpios all the time!

I guess we'll just have to keep you ;)

Could we perhaps set up a standing order of say a pound a month?  It's such a trivial amount that I doubt any of us would miss it but it should help keep the site going...

I'd love to know where and how Alexa get their info because in December we hit over 35 GB of data traffic - I guess we must have a lot more visitors than members these days. Maybe some people are realising that the Scorpios going to become collectors item soon :)

You can subscribe to the PayPal donation service if you like - we have a handful of members that do that (thanks!!!) - I've just added a running totalizer of the current balance (just paid for the servers so it's negative at the moment and have to pay for the mailing list next week) which will show you where we are with donations. Of course I'll continue to pay for it anyway even if we are in the red - it's not going to disappear.

We had a couple of enquires from Ford dealers wanting an ad on certain pages so if they come through then that will help - fingers crossed.

Just like to say I think this site is well run and I greatly appreciate it. I like the straight sensible attitude taken by everyone involved: in a world of cheap sound-bites and cliche jargon all around us, this is an ever increasing rarity. I would be quite happy to pay a membership fee, in fact I just tried to set up a monthly donation just now but as far as I could tell it looked like a one-off, so will have to check back. I try and send a tenner everytime I get some advice, but I don't ask very often, so this does not add up to much. Maybe if numbers are dwindling, a fixed charge should be introduced. If we are running these sorts of cars, cash can't be that short. What do you think oh great ones of the Scorp site??

It's probably from the Alexa Toolbar which sends information about browsing habits to Alexa. I also believe they have some other applications, some labeled as spyware by some experts. In addition, internet explorer has a function to send browsing information to Alexa.

You obviously ain't seen my wage packet Jeff :-[  It's only by maintaining low mileage and being fortunate enough to have only a small travelling distance to work allows me to keep my only luxury, that of Scorpio ownership....Heaven help though when it does breaks down. }{

It is for this very reason why I agree, even though I am not a frequent poster on the forums (not that knowledgeable), that maintaining the longevity of this site is important and that a donation of any amount whenever it is possible is necessary.

I've just updated the link at the top right of the forum - if you click it you open a page where you can make a one off donation or you can set up a regular £5 a month donation - if anyone thinks that's too much then I can make it less.

I don't want to make it a member only site - there are many who just don't have the spare cash to afford it and at the end of the day it's all about the car and eventually it will become a collectors car and it would be great to have the resources of this site around to support it.

Displaying the site fund balance seems to be working , if it goes on at this rate the admins will all be getting new cars ;)

I'd be more than happy to chip in despite my 'church mice are loaded compared to me' status, but I have no credit/debit cards so Paypal is no good to me.

Would like to do my bit though, so If theres a place to send a cheque just let me know.

That page has also lost the hall of fame
http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/paypal.htm

Searching for “donate” came up with this page that has the monthly subscription:

Subscription is now working again - PayPal changed the code and made it a donate rather than subscribe service by default so it's back to subscribe again. Is everyone ok with 5 quid or should it be lower?

I have been a member of the forum for 3 years now and have donated a couple of times for the excellent information I have acquired on here. With a wife and a young child it is quite hard to find the time to spend much time on the internet, so unfortunately I may only look on the site for the information I need at the time. I would be totally lost if it went though due to there been no haynes manual. Also the times I have posted problems, everyone has been so polite. Thanks. Think the money counter is an excellent idea by the way. I suppose numbers will drop until the Scorpio gets classic status and is worth money again.

IMHO £5 is a good figure, I intend to set up a subscription soon.

I have been offline for a couple of weeks but normally look at the main site and the forums at least once a day. They are both absolutely invaluable. Put simply, my car would broken for spares in Jan 2006. Yet is is here, being enjoyed and just passed another MOT  :)

Absolutely excellent idea showing the Paypal balance at the top of the screen, whoever thought of that deserves a pat on the back  8)

Running my own site has kept me so busy over the last few months, that I just don't seem to be able to find the time to come and visit as much as I'd like.
Anyway, I've just made another donation, sorry it isn't a lot, but I hope it helps towards keeping the site online :)

Kind regards
Geeker
