Hello everyone :D

I picked up a 1996 2.0 Ultima this morning, its a 1997 model year car, FSH and just 90K on the clock

Colour I believe is arctic silver, although according to my insurers its blue, cloth interior

So far so good, no problems to report, although it needs a d**n good clean inside and a wax, however, mother nature has dropped a deluge this morning, so not much chance of cleaning the car at the moment !

The velour seats are nice on the Ultima, had them in mine.

According to the VIN plate code, its called Auralis blue

It does look good with a clean and polish, just got a replacement front fog light to fit tomorrow and it will look much better :)

Yes, my other car is a Scenic, which TBH is a pile of junk and will remain parked up for some time to come now I am sure ;D

Still looks like moondust, but on my laptop at the moment and the screen doesn't do colours that well ;)

I was probably being too harsh on the scenic, but, it has leaked like a sieve in the past and the build quality leaves a little to be desired, with plenty of bits dropping of it

However, its pretty useful as a van !

Crikey I hope not , we've just bought one ::) Nice scorp though, mines the same colour and hey at least yours moves ( mines only moved 5 miles ) ;D

The scenic is a good family workhorse vehicle, mine is a phase 1 and has suffered from all the usual woes, which have been fixed, but, Im sure the next failure looms on the horizon !

I do plan on keeping the Scenic though, it does come in handy for the jobs that I dont want to use the scorpio for !

Ours is being picked up next week phase 2 I think not the new shape one.

Something else to pay for sob, sniffle ..... hopefully it'll be reliable(ish)

Just make sure you check everywhere for water leaks, all the drain holes are unblocked too, rear door locks is another problem area ::)

what was that!!??? you're looking at replacing the loom(s) on a scenic in the near future???? how ironic, you'll probably be doing the same job on the scorp..... ::)

Looms on the 16v ain't that bad to do, it's normally the part which snakes around the top of the engine and gets all the radiated heat which goes worst but not the end of the world. Just bear in mind you might be opening a can of worms if you go to change the plugs over the weekend, the loom feeding the coilpacks has a nasty habit of falling apart when you disturb it :-/. At least with the 2.0 you miss out on the plastic inlet manifold on the 2.3, the 2.3 is a lovely motor and nice power/torque increase over the 2.0 but has more issues lurking :)

I might get a Pug as daily driver eventually, mate of mine has a 406 which seems to drive a lot better than the Mondeo, feels more lively and seems to have more low end torque... Just feels like a better driving car overall despite the few build and parts problems he's had.
