Title: My Scorpio Post by Krugerblue on Nov 24th, 2008, 2:53pm Hi all, I live in Bucharest, I am 31 years old and I work as an e-commerce business consultant. About 5 months ago I found out that a colleague of mine was selling his Scorpio MK1. The fact that the car was in good condition, had service history and only one owner, helped me in my decision. So i bought it. Is it 2.4 V6, it has 280.000 km with no major repairs, manufactured in 1989. It needs some new shock absorbers, and I changed the TPS and IACV on it. That's about it. It's not ghia, it only has front electric windows and mirrors, and AC. I bought a new clutch kit (Sachs) but I didn't have time to install it yet, and some other minor stuff. It has it's original paint, original stereo and speakers, pretty much.....all is original. I love it...it's a car with a strong personality :-* Next year I plan to buy a Mustang also, but we"ll see if I can save the money for it. Title: Re: My Scorpio Post by gozz on Nov 24th, 2008, 4:52pm Krugerblue. Your car is actually a mark 3 Granada, the Scorpio designation on those was a trim and equipment level, that is top of the range, the Ghia designation was a lower spec than Scorpio. The Scorpio proper was made from 1995 to 1998,and is a very different beast in most ways. All the best GOZZ. |

Title: Re: My Scorpio Post by Krugerblue on Nov 24th, 2008, 5:01pm I know, but it says Scorpio on the back of it, and also the papers say Scorpio :). How come ? |

Title: Re: My Scorpio Post by gozz on Nov 24th, 2008, 5:15pm Possibly different badging for other countries ! certainly there are plenty here with Scorpio on them, but they are high spec cars 8) GOZZ. |

Title: Re: My Scorpio Post by Krugerblue on Nov 24th, 2008, 6:30pm Yes, it may be. I will post more pictures with it soon. It was originally manufactured for German market, and the previous owner imported it in Romania. |

Title: Re: My Scorpio Post by Highlander on Nov 24th, 2008, 7:58pm The Granada was marketed as the Scorpio in the rest of Europe, it was only here Ford decided to call them the Granada ;) |

Title: Re: My Scorpio Post by Scorpio_Mike on Nov 24th, 2008, 8:40pm Nice looking car - the 2.4 V6 version was only sold in the UK for a short while so very rare here. Can't remember the last time I saw one. As per other replies, your car was sold in the UK as a Mk3 Granada or Granada Scorpio for the top level trim versions. Only badged as a Granada here in the UK, elsewhere as Scorpio. |

Title: Re: My Scorpio Post by Krugerblue on Nov 24th, 2008, 10:09pm Yeap, here :). I was just wondering, I received this quotation from a DE company. Do you find these to be good prices ? I find them exceptionally good compared to the quotations from Ford dealers in Romania. http://s4.transfer.ro/storage/transfer_ro-00ef6fb7d6.zip |

Title: Re: My Scorpio Post by Krugerblue on Feb 16th, 2009, 10:39pm I finally managed to change the clutch, and also that O ring that seals the oil between the crankshaft and the flywheel (I don't know the word in English). The entire clutch kit to be precise was changed. It cost a small fortune, but it's well worth the money. Notice how the original Motorcraft clutch worked for almost 300.000 km. And also some new pictures (sorry about the telephone camera quality) http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n3/krugerblue/Ford/Image003.jpg http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n3/krugerblue/Ford/Image009.jpg http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n3/krugerblue/Ford/Image000.jpg http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n3/krugerblue/Ford/Image002.jpg http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n3/krugerblue/Ford/Image004.jpg http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n3/krugerblue/Ford/Image006.jpg EDITED by Snoopy due to LARGE size of Pictures. |
