Title: Another noobie
Post by bryn on Jan 27th, 2009, 4:41pm
Evening all, just thought I would post a quickie.

At the grand ol age of 27, I have just obtained a 97 estate cosworth ;D as I am due to be a dad again any day now, and the pram wont fit in the back of the current car.

Any how, the car is a 2 owner, 100k ultima, and the only down side, it is that god awful flat burgendy colour.

I had a 2.9 4x4 sierra when I was more youthfull and loved the sound of a V6

The best thing is it only stands me £400.

I will be adding a nice sound system soon too as I miss my bass, and the display on the 7000 system says CD Error.

regards

Bryn

Welcome to the site and good luck with the car and the imminent new arrival.  ;)  It could be that there is a CD stuck in the unit or that a wire has come adrift in the loom just back from the connector. There is a known fault in that area but easily resolved.
Go to THIS page (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/faultfinds.htm) and scroll down to 'Interior Concerns' and you will see the relevant section. :)

Welcome to the site.

CD ERROR can also be caused by putting a CD into the magazine the wrong way round - I know coz I've done it. Do'h!  :-[

Cheers, I have already grown to love it (almost as much as my 2 day old daughter) ;)

And considering the way it gets driven its still returning an average of 19mpg which i think aint too bad.

A quick question regarding speaker size, i have checked the home pages and PDFs but cant seem to find the size of speakers fitted in the front doors or in the rear quarters.

Would any body have this info to hand, so i dont have to strip the doors down??

Thanks again

Bryn

bryn.
Hello and welcome,as I am an old bloke here are the estate speaker dimensions in inches, front doors 4.5"in diameter, rear 7"x 5" app, rears are mounted vertically and of course are oval. The apertures into which they fit are of course slightly smaller than the OD of the speaker(fronts)the rears are mounted on a plastic bracket which spans the large aperture in the body side,so there is scope for something very bassy there.
Congratulations on the new arrival, have you named her yet ? I hope it,s not Ultima or Cossy  ;D.I remember my first daughters arrival in 1965 as if it were yesterday, they don't half get stroppy when the're fifteen :'(
                              All the best
                                  GOZZ.

Hmm, the only burgandyish colour I'm aware of is officially called Dark red aubergine. What's wrong with a bit of purple??
Did alright for a certain band of deepness as I recall!!!

Seriously though welcome to the forum and congrats on your new arrival.

Mark

Could also be Ford Claret Red - basically Cosworth Magenta without the pearl.  Can look good, but needs a bit of a polish...

your right about the magenta with out the pearl.

Had a bit of fun in the snow today too, went to the gym in me shorts (you have to love heated seats) and found the car park empty ;D ;D ;D
