The new server is back online - may be some teething problems and I know we lost yesterdays posts but I'm glad that was the worst of it.

Let's see how much better it is now.

Well done that man! I know SOME people would be getting withdrawal symptoms and would have needed a dark room etc...!

Are your other sites loading ok ?

I'm with Virgin Media (ntl) 2mb  must admit it can be a bit daunting at times more-so when they are doing maintenance work or some feral kids have ripped the doors off the street cabinet and given the cables a good tug.

I'm monitoring the server load as this is a new server with multiple cores and I want to see how it copes with the load - the system load has not exceeded 10% so I am pretty sure that the server is not the cause of any problems. It could be the network between the customer (you) and the server and you can test this by opening up a Command Prompt and typing

tracert www.fordscorpio.co.uk

If you look at the figures in the columns, then if there are any that are > 200 then that's the point that it starts slowing down. If there are any with a * then it indicates that the packet of test data is being lost or that the server does not support the test and is just passing the data through.

Thanks for the all the positive comments - it's certainly flying along :)

Now I just have to pay the bills :( - Actually it's not much more per month than the old server but I have to pay for the techs time helping me out do the transfer.

How can the site get into the red if it has,as I believe,about 3000 participants ?
It would appear that most people never donate at all,if half of us gave even a quid a month there would be no problem  >:(

There are a memorable few that help on a regular basis and to whom I'm extremely grateful. It's not a huge amount of money each month and I'll always cover any shortfalls so the site won't go down. This month had extra expenses as I had to pay for the techs time to assist with the server migration and so that's why it's in the red - normally there is just sufficient to cover the costs.

Anyway, to those that have donated I'm very grateful!
