Title: Leaving the forum
Post by Neil W on Feb 7th, 2010, 3:39pm
Well guys, after almost 12 years of ownership, from new, I have sold my Cosworth facelift saloon. A reluctant sale, but it was time to move on to something more modern and frugal (a Mercedes Benz E320 CDi Avantgarde). I have briefed the new Scorpio owner about this site and, as he is a good friend of mine, I daresay I'll end up under the Scorpio with a spanner again before long  ;D.

I always thought the Cosworth had a lot of umph, but the new Diesel Merc, a 3 litre V6, has a top speed of 155mph (fairly academic in UK), 0-62 in 6.5 secs, 220 BHP and 550 NM of torque, and average fuel consumption of 45 mpg. Truely fantastic considering it weighs 2.2 tonnes. Interestingly, the Cosworth has loads more "extras" than the Merc, although it doesn't have some of the later systems like navigation (Comand) or stability control.

At least the Cosworth stays on the road eh!

Cheers,

Neil W. 8)

I know what you mean about the new modern diesels.

Few years ago, I had an Audi A6 with 200+bhp as company car & I'd often get 50+ MPG on a run,
compared to my current Scorpio where I get 36-38.

Congratulations on yer change of car.   However, Rob, "current Scorpio does 36-38 mpg"!   That must be the 2.5 oiler?    ::)

Erm...yes.
Why the roll of eyes?

Aye, the role of the eyes was more at my own stupidity, just thought I'd leave it in.   If I'd thought long enough, it could only be the oiler.
