Title: The end of an ERA
Post by Alastair on Oct 6th, 2010, 9:48am
The time has now come to part company with my Scorpio.  -  1998 2.3, 16 valve Ghia.

Apart from the problem with the EDIS, which was well chronicled and confused a lot of members 4 years ago, the car has run like a dream.

However the car will not pass its next MOT due not to any mechanical or structural reason but to the fact that the ABS light remains on after the self check. I was advised that a sensor had collapsed and replaced it with a new Ford sensor (at £120) only to discover that the problem had effected one or more of the others and the price to continue round the car is to me prohibitive.

Anyway to cut a long story short I have purchased a new car ( still a Ford but smaller) and the dealer is taking the Scorpio in part exchange. I don’t think he was overjoyed in agreeing this and has advised that he will just stick it in Auction.

The dealer is Howard Johnston Cars Limited 92 Ferry Road Edinburgh 0131 553 6276.

The car is going in Thursday 6/10/10 and if anyone wants it I am sure that to save the hassle of going to auction it could be purchased very cheaply.

The car is too good to scrap and has: - A very good engine and management system -110 K
                                A good interior Black leather
                                Good trim on all doors
Good body panels except for some tinworm damage to rear wings
                                                            New brakes for last MOT
Road Tax and MOT till December.
I have enjoyed my time as a member and would like to express my thanks to all those who have advised and assisted in the past.

Regards

Alastair Beaton.
PS: - sorry to the administrators if this should be in a different section.

Sadly no,

as I've increased my Sierra collection and acquired another couple of Suzuki SJ's my Scorpio interest is purely 24v and diesel only now ;D

What did you replace it with Alastair?
