Must be similarities to getting some Scorps back on the road!. Details are Here (http://www.channel4.com/programmes/falklands-most-daring-raid/episode-guide/series-1/episode-1) :) Details of the work to keep the only one left flying are Here (http://www.vulcantothesky.org/). :) |

Title: Re: Vulcan Bomber Documentary Post by PJDavis on Mar 14th, 2012, 4:37pm I was a Navigator on Phantoms at Leuchars, 111 Sqdn. My older Brother was a Vulcan Jockey out of Scampton. I think he did mainly maritime work that the old Victor Tankers used to do. My Brother was lucky-enough to fly all of the big 'V' bombers. I did a stint on Victors as a Nav', good old times. Inverness airport has a privately run museum of some really nice aircraft, this includes the front pressured part of a Valient B1, and a Nimrod. Both with all their equipment still intact! That Valient brought back memories, I couldn't believe what a squeeze it was to get up into the Pilots and Co's seats, I must have been a lot 'bendier' in my younger days! |

Title: Re: Vulcan Bomber Documentary Post by Scorp_Kev on Mar 14th, 2012, 5:29pm Was it a Vulcan bomber that used to sit just at the entrance to Blackpool Airport. Sold on ebay for loads, then many court cases to get it shifted. http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=141&h=&t=234566 |

hi there that one sat there for years. it was amazing to thing to scramble about. as said earlier, soooo small inside for such a large plane. bit like concord in that respect (memories of a scorpio meet a few years back. ;D) |

Title: Re: Vulcan Bomber Documentary Post by rich170361 on Mar 15th, 2012, 11:19am I think that I must have worked on most of the aircraft that the RAF had in service. As RAF st athans was a H.M.Unit covering most types of front line a/c at the time. Late 70s and 80s |
