Title: The new scorpios both V reg plates
Post by fieldashley on Nov 23rd, 2013, 9:07pm
Here's the new scorpios me and my brother have just purchased, my brothers is the silver one with 96k miles and mine the red one with a mere 36k miles.

Picked mine up today, it's only done 39 miles since it's last mot 4 years and 2 months ago, drove it back 50 miles today took it for an mot and passed, very pleased with it drives almost like a new car.

They were both owned by the same guy who sadly passed away, so we bought them both to keep them together.

Here's a link to a few pictures.

Very nice indeed. They could be unique with V-reg plates, haven't seen any others.
(If two could be unique!). Do you know the provenance of them?
The red one looks the same as mine, except I don't have the headlamp washers (and mind the covers don't 'disappear') - and my one has 120k on the clock, nearly.
Sorry I couldn't get organised my end for the sale of my other two, but you have found a better buy with these. You have a duty now to preserve these for evermore! Well done.

When you think about how many Scorpios were sold, I wonder how many 'twins' were registered when new and how many of these pairs now survive.
Scorpio production ended July '98 so that would have been when the 'S' plate was current - how many were registered on T plates & later ?

I remember seeing 1 T plate a few years back on ebay. It was an estate cant remember engine size.

They were both registered in Coventry even the vin numbers are very close one ends 118 the other 120.
The red low miler will be preserved will only come out once a year for an mot and the silver one my brothers daily runner.

Would be great to be able to actually see a list of the last registered scorpios and find the very last registered car.

I do remember see a T reg Scorpio about 10 years ago but not one since and have heard of the occasional mythical W reg.

When were they registered mate? was it 97-99 or 99/00. Would be interesting to know how they got the v plates if 97-99 cars

The Buy it Now price was £6000 last week.
Think it went bit lower to £4000 later. Nice car though.

Yes very nice, in an alternative parallel universe I might be tempted but tax insurance and mpg would too expensive at the mo.

Even given the plate, mileage and condition, I'd be surprised if it fetches more that £2k.  I'm betting final bid at £1600.

If it had a BOB in it though I'd be all over it :-)

I was sorry to hear that the previous owner had passed away.... I seem to recall his name was John and he was a bit of a character by all accounts!
