This is the sort of thing people do with their houses at the estate agents.I once found an ideal property for my needs, when I spoke to the owner he said "I aint sellin it mate, just wanted an idea of the value".This was very disappointing, and to me very underhanded, but then I was brought up to be fair and honest  ::)

MOT Length?   Tax Length?   Tyres?

I virtually gave Aunty away eventually.   I thought to a person that would put it through an MOT and save it.   You's will remember Aunty, it was a great car, I had it up on ramps at my work, I had it pre-checked-over at a mates MOT station, and he reckoned no-problem!   The guy I gave it too was down on his luck and had his Scorpio just fail the MOT on sills and ABS.   I told him to pay me when he could afford to and after he'd got it on the road.   The only text I got was to say that he'd put it to the local garage for an MOT and Aunty needed at least £400 of work done to it mainly because the ABS was goosed!   There was nothing wrong with the ABS because I'd tested it just before I drove the blinking car across to him!   I reckon the garage saw this guy coming with an old car and hoped for some work!   I'm sure it was scrapped which is very very much a shame!

I'm very cynical about all older cars and what they are worth.   I had plenty of people on this forum say they were interested in Aunty, no-one came up with the dosh, even when I offered to meet them down by the Scots-English border, (a 300 mile journey for me) I have a couple of older cars and motorcycles, I'm lucky that my work has a M/V department that I can use the full facilities.   Still, Scorpio's are only worth the money you get cash-in-hand when YOU want to sell, so not a lot!   Further South will probably command almost double the price that I can up in North Scotland.   Still, I would see no reason to spend any more than about £700 on an almost perfect example with full MOT and at least half a year tax.   A bit more for 24V, and Ultima's and again for estates.   Course this is just my opinion! :-)
