Title: Scorpio Estate Here :)
Post by Daniel on Mar 24th, 2014, 3:13pm
Hi all
Well on friday my parents finally got rid of the mk3 mondeo ;D its been a pain the last 6 months or so.
But the best bit is, it was part ex'd for Scorpio estate. Its a June 98 registered 2.3 Ghia. We have only ever had Ultimas so this feels abit basic but still compared to many other cars its a good spec. Leather isnt 10 way, memory or heated  :( no cruise control either but we have never used it.
Its a genuine facelift model, 3 point seatbelts in rear and 3 headrests too. Its a nice colour, cant wait to get it polished up, also looking forward to cleaning the engine as its a bit of a state.
As you can see it is crying out for a set of 12 spokes, but the tires on it a the minute are good so maybe when they need changing we can do it.
I will get it to a nice clean condition before i add pics of it at home. but here is the ebay link (if it hasnt been removed). The sticker on the number plate has gone and little bits sorted out.
We didnt pay what its up for even with the part ex so i think we got a good deal. MOT till November 14 not april as in ad.

Very  nice. It does say it has cruise control in the advert and looks like it has a electric drivers seat.

Yeah, ad also said ultima, think they didn't know much about scorpios   ::)  seats do go up and down with button but nothing else, my ultima has electric 10 way ajustable. Still a lovley car I'm not moaning honest  ;D much better than a mondeo  :)

The scorpio is the rolls royce of fords lol. You could probably fit all the missing ultima toys but that car looks great.

Nice colour. Inlet manifolds can be troublesome on these 2.3's. As matter of routine I would fit a new thermostat.

Looking at the one we have. I think I prefer it, on the exteriour at least. The colour is rarer and its a genuine facelift, I would like to upgrade the inside for ultima spec at some point but for now very happy  :)

Just looked at vin, it is cuirass. Lovley colour, you can really see the difference between cuirass and silver when it parked next to mine. I prefer it to silver.

Dan, I really liked the old 2.3 lump...not the fastest car, but the nicest revving, smoothest 4 cyl at high revs that I've owned next to my ZT. Way nicer feeling engine than any black top Zetec I've driven.

Nothing wrong with a Ghia, the only part I'd miss are the Ultima indicator/fog units at the front, somehow they make the front end look less grinny. Basically, put a set of alloys or some genuine Ford wheel trims on and you've got a bargain car. And it's already got full leather, something my 2.3 Ultima didn't even have :)

Bruce.
