Hi guys just wanting to know how many scorpios were actually built and what number yours were on the production line. The last 5 digits on the vin I think is the build number if I'm wrong let me know.

Let's kick things off mines 86120 what's yours.

Think there were around 100,000 Scorpios built in total ???
Mine is a '96 and the build number is 31614.

mines a 96 2.3 number is 09622

The last five numbers on the vin aren't sequential build numbers unique to the Scorpio. It includes any vehicle built by Ford Europe - so you could have 1 as a Scorpio, 2 as a Fiesta, 3 as a Mondeo, 5 as an Escort and 6 as another Scorpio etc. There may be gaps as well - i.e. if they've taken 5 shells for rally conversion or destruction testing etc. Sometimes they'd even remove a whole block of numbers, so you could jump from number 12000 straight to 45000.

The best you can say is if you have a low number, then your car was bilt at the beginning of the month and if the number is high then it was built at the end of the month.

For reference, mine is a Jun '98 build (i.e. the last month of production) and the last five digits on my vin are 03759.
