Title: I'm back
Post by Toriitom on Jan 21st, 2016, 2:13am
Hi All

I'm back in the land of the living. I have not been too well over the last year or two but I'm getting better every day as long as keep taking the tablets.

Have I missed much when I was away?

I was just looking at my vehicle stock at the weekend past and some of it is in a bad way. The Scorpio doesn't look too bad - body seems to be holding out not much rust just a couple of semi-soft tyres. The Transit is a different matter - the body is very rusty; some places it is right through. The Sierra is the same as it was when I parked it there so many years ago.

I was having a thought about the Scorpio. Would it be possible to fit the diesel engine from the 95 Transit into the Scorpio? What are the pro's and con's?

You will see my comments back on the forum now I'm on my feet again.

Tom

Hi Tom, glad to hear your health is improving. What scorpio do you have? If it is already a diesel, probably best to find another Scorpio diesel engine to put in it. I think its the VM engine which is fairly easy to find. If it is a petrol Scorpio, LOTS of work and in my opinion, not really worth the effort. If its a Cossie, why would you!! :o
What's wrong with the current engine?
All the best,
Graham

Glad to see you back and getting much better Tom. I am not sure but I think the scorpio diesel engine was used in the galaxy and some transits.

Thank you Graham & Andy.

My Scorpio is a 2.0L petrol that gave me a headache and was left there while I decided what to do with it. I cannot remember exactly what was happening with it but I can remember getting new (to me) coil packs and a partial wiring loom. I know that it was running the battery flat in a short period of time.

Regarding fitting the diesel, if it is lots of work, as you say, then I will get rid of the Scorpio and the Transit too, albeit the Transit engine has a very nice engine.

I will have to reconsider my thoughts and make a decision before they rust away to nothing.

No Martin, it's a very basic 2.5L non-turbo with about 80,000 very easy-going miles on it.

I'm not prepared for a lot of work. If it was just lift out the petrol, sling in the diesel, connect a few wires and that's it; I would be able to do that without too much strain on my ageing body but if it's a lot more then I won't bother.
