Title: she"s gone
Post by gost on Jul 9th, 2016, 7:34pm
after 6 happy years the old girl has to go, she broke down twice in last 3 weeks
first time cost me 550 for drive shaft and other bits, today on a13 engine blew I'm told its head gasket, cant afford to spend more on her, so time to say bye bye, will have to find a cheap runaround for a while, but I'm sure eventually I will get another scorp, I just love em,

I am a brand new member and this is my first post.  Before I  was able to log in I saw your message asking if anyone wanted the old girl.  Alas I was unfortunately unable to reply as I only became registered today.  I was very, very saddened to see that you sent her for scrap.  A few days earlier and I would have had her.  Regarding obtaining another beware that banger racers love Scorpios and almost always bid on any that appear on Ebay.  I obtained my latest '97 Ghia x estate from ebay after bidding against a banger racer who actually won the auction but tried to beat the price down when he came to pick up the car.  Thankfully I had already been in touch with the seller who contacted me after the auction ended. I paid £625 for her and she drove from Chichester to South Wales beautifully.  A tip may be to get friendly with your local Scrap yards as they are occasionally given cars that have been loved but given away or sold cheaply after the death of the owner.  I have a good relationship with my local scrappy who gives me first refusal should one come in. He recently offered me an Ultima estate which died from the dreaded rust. Other than the rust which was terminal the car was otherwise loved and ran like a dream. I bought it for £250 as long as I gave him the shell to sell to a banger racer.   So, the shell died but the spirit of the car lives on.      Tony. :)
