After a suggestion from one of the members it is proposed to try and determine how many Scorpios are actually on the road or being stored.
We have the DVLA numbers but do the members prove that wrong.

If you have a Scorpio then please leave a post on this thread ... NO REG NUMBERS just model and colour and is it on the road or SORN, and how many you have. It might make interesting reading.

Part of my ex fleet is still being used on funerals in Wisbech,they are both Coleman Milne conversions a 2.9 V6 hearse and a 2.3 limousine.One of the others a Cosworth 24v limousine is off the road in my yard awaiting the banger death :'(

Mine is a 1997 2.3 Ultima Estate, dark green. Bought it for 150 quid 3 years ago having sold my 97 2 Ltr saloon to a returning expat. I have gradually had it restored to near perfect condition. Now used as our main vehicle, here in France. Have not seen any others out here recently but then France is a big country!

Colour looks like Petrol Blue which is darker than the State Blue. It does look the same as my old Scorpio which was Petrol Blue. Nice colour when polished up.

Thanks for all your kind comments. It is definitely dark green but exactly what the colour is or was called I do not have a clue! Car was brought over from the UK by a guy who lives not far away from me so yes, right hand drive but running now on French plates. He had it up for scrap and it certainly did have some irritating electronic problems due to water ingress. Nevertheless, it was in far too good a condition to contemplate scrapping so paid around £150 for it. Sorted out the problems eventually and she is now running perfectly.
Both bumpers has recently been replaced The front one came from a Cosworth I understand. My wife did the back one in and then a French car backed into the front one in a supermarket car park then took off without leaving a note. I will not repeat what I think of him (or her) ::) ::)

I have 2 identical 1995, 24v saloons in nouveau red. One sorn for parts the other used every day and loved with all my heart, 88k on the clock and runs like an angel, going to have his rust done on 16th April, cross your fingers for us everyone please!

1x 1997 Cosworth Ultima state blue owned since 2001. Only do about 4k/year now (not short journeys) but with 106k on clock it still shifts like .... when I want it to :)
Best car ever owned. A couple of excellent mechanics I use when things are beyond me always say "this is a great car, you must keep it going". And why wouldn't I?

Having totted up the replies in this section i reckon only 29 (?) cars so far have been noted on this thread.

If you have a Scorpio can you let us know to help raise the total?

Scorpio's for sale are still out there and judging by the number of comments along the "wish I still had one - never had anything so comfy - best car I ever had - wish I still had mine" all the ones for sale should be sold by the weekend.

Still have 2 Scorpios although mine is off the road since 2017 due to some idiot damaging the front bumper and not having had time to get it patched up.

The other half is still using her Loden Green 2.0 daily and although needing wheel arches etc doing it's going strong.

Good morning Tony.

Thank you for your query and your politeness. 8).

Well "buycarparts" sent the wrong Water Pump and it took quite a lot to persuade them of that fact. However eventually they agreed that it was the wrong Pump and asked me to return it saying that if after examination all was well that they would refund me the cost. At the same time they said that they are now sure that they can provide the correct Water Pump for my 24 valve Scorpio Estate and would I like to buy it.

I managed to get the wrong pump returned (they sent a return postage label) last week. At the same time I reported this to them and said that I would like to buy the replacement Pump. So far I have heard nothing from them.

So there you go. Maybe they have the correct spec. but not the actual Pump, ???

Who would want to own a Scorpio? I would, I would. And I do - two of them!

Hi Mike

I recently changed my water pump, the hardest part I found was removing the fans as I couldn't undo one of the electrical connectors so I just let the fans rest on the floor with the wire still connected. (does that make sense?) The remainder of the job was pretty easy although I gained a few scraped knuckles!!

I had a used spare pump so took a chance that it was working OK and up to now everything is good. I did however purchase a new gasket.

As I said on another thread I contacted SP Water Pumps in Warrington, spoke to John who said he could definitely refurbish any pump in a couple of days and offered a p&p service if necessary.

I do intend to have my leaking pump refurbished, just haven't got round to it yet.

I have just spoken to Jackie at SP and she is going to do some before and after pictures of any Scorpio pumps which she gets in. I have given her my Email so that she can send them to me.
Once that happens I'll create a post on here so that the info we have is here for all time. Hopefully this will solve the age old problem of members trying to get the correct one.

1997 Built 1998 registered Scorpio Cosworth Ghia Estate Moondust Silver (not facelift). Just back on road this week after 18 month minor refurb. Will probably be sorn'd over winter and tucked up dry.

Just trying to keep up with the cars we have (left) no one yet with a base model (sold mine - new owner loves it sooo much its on ebay at the moment!).

Just thought I'd chip in again, as we seem to have lost the thread here.

The latest numbers by DVLA is 328 on the road and 1076 on sorn-this does not include any dealers hanging on to cars as they now fudge the numbers, as do the many held by the banger boys.

In short 2.0l @ 274 2.3l @ 475 2.9l 564 & 94 diesels, this sounds way out to me as we can only account for about 70 on here, so must be lots in sheds or hiding somewhere. They seem to be going up in value at a slower rate then vanishing, but this will change in time as they get beyond the reach of banger boys-so look after yours Quentin is flying the flag for us all out there and only had one person says he didnt like it!

It was great to see a Scorpio I don't own! perhaps we should all take thm to shows - didn't look out of place one bit and made a change from all the BMC/British leyland stuff, you know something different for a change they seem to be wearing well in time unlike the "G" which now looks rather dated particularly the late 80s ones. ???

Tons on the continent, and still making money have a look on "the parking" site to see what i mean.

Well I saw another at Longbridge Deverill last week, a red Ghia TD estate.

I think the bloke who didn't like mine would have reacted the same if it had been an 820, an Omega or a 605, he just thought it was too young but they have to start somewhere.

Thougt I'd just check how many lovely cars left in UK

NOT quite as depressing as I had anticipated, looks like 225 on the road and 1108 in sheds garages or melting into the lawn somewhere.

Ultimas (as the wanger boys call them) cosworths are 45 on the road and 302 in the shed or on the lawn.

All the more reason for getting out and about (when we can) so Joe Public (yes it does have an L in it) can wonder what a lovely car :)

And save up to buy one!

HI, Ruby, my Cosworth Estate is up and running around happily with her new MOT. I keep her mobile 'cause I love driving her and she hates to be ignored (that's my excuse). I did a round trip from Brecon to Taunton a week or so ago: What a pleasure! 28.5mpg overall. I've done the same journey in my Mini Cooper and there is no comparison as they are two very different motors. Still it got me there and back.

We have a 1996 2.0 Ultima 16v Auto in Aubergine that has done 107,000 miles and which we use everyday and all year round.
We also have a 1997 2.3 ultima Auto in Samarkand (or Samakand? I'm not sure which as I looked it up and apparently Ford used both but I can't find out which was used on the Scorpio) which we bought in around 2012 but have not yet used because we bought the above Scorpio just a few weeks after buying this one (we intend to get this one on to the road in the next year or so). it has done 48,000 miles and has 1 previous owner.
Also, until early this year, when we sold it, we had a 1995 (registered in February so quite early into production) 2.0 16v Auto Executive in Aubergine that has done 76,000 miles that we had owned since 2006 and used until purchasing the 2.0 Ultima.

Sorry if it doesn't read right, fault of the system not the orginator ??? ??? ??? ???

So there is tons of ultimas, but if you want a rare one go for exec 8v or diesel.
Not sure what the "12v A" is possibly early cars before the ultima badges were fitted on the doors, both Xanders ultima 12v and my N cossie (june & july '95) only have ultima on the gearbox trim. BUT my blus cos sloon (mar '95) has a plain cover (but am sure has a different interior to original) used to be m60 cjn and was on here a long time ago.

Have done my best to make sure only scorps here and no grannys

Shame so few left on the road now. Don't drive mine so much as I've bought another ULEZ compliant motor. But still enjoy taking it out for a ride but also feel sad that I will have to offload it at some point - great ride and that engine just loves 'S' mode 8)
