Title: 2.3 has to go
Post by Jeff on Jan 30th, 2020, 12:24pm
What to do. I have a very nice red 2.3 Ultima saloon which needs a new bonnet following a light prang a couple of years ago. It's been sat on my drive getting partially repaired (new front bumper, courtesy Scorpio Mike) but I am unable to keep it any longer. I haven't been able to find a bonnet and it's just not worth spending any money on it. The problem is it was nigh on fault free before my beloved wife gave it a roundabout job (car in front stopped after going etc) and it breaks my heart to scrap it. Anybody want bits, what should I do?
It's sat for over a year without running and now won't start, I suspect lack of fuel, probably a duff connection on fuel pump. So I am in a corner. Any suggestions?

Hi Jeff if it saves the car for you i have a "racer" on the drive, knowing what s** the bangers are i was going to keep the opening panels, so as i said if it saves the car for you I am happy to sell the bonnet.

Try also Britannia breakers in manchester (glyn knows them well) also may have other bits you need
Cheers Roy ::)

Thanks for the offer, Roy, but I just haven't got the time to sort it. Unfortunately I doubt if there is anyone looking to spend time on these, in spite of mine being worthy of time investment, so it has got to go.

Mike has reminded me it has a good facelift front end fitted if anyone fancies an upgrade to theirs. It's grey in colour, but the car is pepper red. Black interior, good doors etc if anyone is in need. And a mildly bent bonnet!

Fair nuff, just hate to see em bangered or scrapped now as sooo many gone
:(

ALWAYS BEWARE of the banger boys, very devious and dubious as these get rarer-I got stung once, what I thought was going to be saved got wrecked.

More spares gone particularly 2.3 motors doors bonnets and boots 2.0 heads and dfiffs, rockin horse s*** now thanks to them
>:(

Usual remarks "my dads got one of these" (he's probably dead)  I need a bumper for my Ultima (always ultima or granny - nothing like a granny mine has a walking stick and is very old)
I need it for spares to keep mine going (to the oval death, need as many as possinle as they only last a race)  the attachment in the email shows a scorp "we take to shows" (just the once to wreck it) having thrown away all our spares

RANT over

Still waiting for a decision from me on my drive! Are you interested in the old girl?

I think there is at least one bloke who buys them up to break for spares, which if a car is not viable to save fair enough, but not otherwise. I suppose only way to prevent that is to keep the selling price high enough. How high do you reckon a banger type would go?

I got £550 for Pearns (p836rns) my blue cos saloon from banger bulls*** boy last year, but they are almost gone now very few out there even on ebay.
As I said I have 2 with MOTs to sell and the racer with no doors or bumpers etc, though I am looking £1700-£2000 each on the 2.3 estae and cos saloon both with good histories and 84 & 101 miles respectively.
Cant really understand why you are selling yours though as its a lovely car Q.

 :) ;) :D ;D

It is a really nice car, especially now with everything that has been done to it, but my space is too tight and i'm not getting the time to spend on my other cars. See what happens with the chap who's coming tomorrow, if it falls through I'll be putting a new MoT on it. So far I have had a succession of dreamers, two offers of £1,000 and £750 over the internet, and one other genuine enquiry from a guy who was too far away to make it viable.
