First of all thank you everyone who posted excellent advice in Parts Wanted and I am so chuffed to report that my 24valve Cosworth Ultima Estate is all back and at it!

Graham, my friend, came over here yesterday and diagnosed a broken Spring on the o/s, so to put is simply he removed both front Struts complete and replaced them with the Struts from " The Beast" (thank you Eric R).

I am dead chuffed to say the least. Ruby passed the MOT just over a month ago and has been stood idle pretty much ever since, ever since the first horrible CRACK noise...my imagination ran wild, my heart sank and I really thought "That's it, the end."

However your practical and encouraging Posts gave me hope, so you can imagine my joy at having Ruby on the road again.

Suppose title should read "Mike's on the road again" or if youre Manfred mann Davys on th road again, see I said I was a child!!

Really pleased for you and proves how much use a spare car is, :o :o

reckon you're off to buy some expensive petrol now and make up for lost driving time, stay safe

That's the tune I was referring to ;D

And yes a donor car is pretty much a requirement these days.

I won't mention petrol, it hurts too much
